iPod Touch Request for Autistic Support Program at Central Bucks East
The students in the Autistic Support Program at Central Bucks East have many talents. They are social, they are excited to learn and they strive to be happy once they leave school. The challenges they face are many; two challenges that we focus on are communication and independence.
On behalf of the students in the Autistic Support program the Teach @15 request is for iPod touches. These iPod touches will enhance the communication opportunities for these students as well as give them a means to increase independence in activities.
One specific activity the iPod touches will be used for is that of scheduling and list making.
Once a week, the class comes together to cook lunch as a group and to eat together as a class. The following activities are used in this activity that will be enhances by the iPod touch.
The lesson plans implemented with the iPod touches would be suitable for a variety of student populations, and these lessons will be able to be replicated using the technology with various groups of students. This activity and associated lesson materials could serve as a model for other schools to use.
