SIT Committee Meeting Minutes May 18, 2016

Meeting began at 3:30 p.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m. in the library

Minutes:

I. Direction 1: Safe and Supportive Learning Environments – Mr. Rendon

a. School Safety Updates- The committee was updated on the issues of school safety; no backpacks allowed the last week of school.

II. Direction 2: College and Career Readiness a. Pre/AP Contracts – Students will be dropped from Pre/AP courses if they do not bring contracts by Friday, May 19, 2016.

b. Summer School – June 6-9, 8:00am-12:00pm, no breakfast or lunch, transportation will be provided. Mrs. Luna is getting lists together and will notify the teachers who have replied to her email. Students will be on a must attend basis If they have loss of credit, failed a core class or SSI (8th graders taking the 3rd administration of STAAR).

III. Direction 3: Highly Qualified, Effective Faculty and Staff –Mrs. Lozano

a. EPAC was cancelled; no update

IV. Direction 4: Home, School, Community Partnerships – Mrs. Castro

a. Allowing use of facility – We have to be judicious in who we allow to use the facilities. If an area of the school is used by the public, be mindful of the condition it is in and how it is left. Report to admin.

V. Direction 5: Accountability for All – Mrs. Castro

a. Approve Student Coded of Conduct – SIT comm. reviewed the dress code policy for 2016-2017, as a campus, we must be vigilant for issues that may cause any harm to students. Hoodies being tied at neck, yet are unzipped can cause a potential safety issue. Students will be asked to untie the hoodie at the neck and keep hoodie unzipped. Backpacks are not allowed the last week of school.

b. Approve CIP Summative – SIT comm. was put into teams to review assigned portions of CIP. Changes were given to admin.
