SSC title: Primary Care audit - Antidepressants in women of child-bearing age Location: Whiteladies Medical Group, Bristol

Description: NICE recommends that tricyclic antidepressants and fluoxetine are the safest drugs to be using during pregnancy. How often are GPs in our practice discussing this with women of childbearing age who are on antidepressant medication? This review would be in three parts: 1) develop a questionnaire for doctors to explore their knowledge of antidepressant prescribing in women of childbearing age. 2) identify patients under 40 on a SSRI who may benefit from education about the need to discuss or switch their antidepressant if they were to get pregnant 3) identify a way of enabling a discussion with these women.
