JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Fundraising Manager

Hours of Work: 37.5

Responsible to: Head of Income Generation

Accountable to: Chief Executive

Qualifications/Experience: Significant experience in a supervisory fundraising role. Experience of operational fundraising in a number of areas e.g. events, corporate, major donors, with a proven track record of meeting financial targets. Summary of Role:

Lead the fundraising team to meet financial targets across all income streams, including own personal targets.

Develop and maintain relationships with the community, local businesses and other supporters to ensure sustainable income for the Hospice.

Develop, implement and monitor the Annual Fundraising Budget.

Liaise with the Retail department to collaborate on income generating activities / marketing and communications.

In the absence of the Head of Income Generation, act as a member of the senior management team, to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with all senior managers.

Professionally represent the organisation to positively maintain and enhance the profile and reputation of the Shakespeare Hospice.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Directly line manage the Events/ Community fundraisers, Corporate fundraiser, Grants & Trusts fundraiser, Marketing & Communications Officer, Fundraising Administrator. 2. Contribute to the development of the overall income generation strategy. 3. Lead and develop the fundraising team to meet organisational objectives. 4. Develop, lead and manage volunteers / interns within the fundraising team 5. Ensure the maintenance of a high level of stewardship and relationship management for all supporters. 6. Support the development and implementation of operational plans for Corporate, Events and Major Giving fundraising. 7. Support the development of major donor fundraising with the Head of Income Generation and Chief Executive. 8. Implement policies and procedures relevant to the fundraising department. 9. Maintain an efficient database system for all fundraising transactions. 10.Provide timely reports to the senior management team, Chief Executive and Trustees as required. 11.Ensure budgetary control and liaise closely with the Head of Finance to understand financial information, taking remedial action where necessary. 12.Ensure that the work of the fundraising department is compliant with the highest professional standards, best practice and all relevant codes of practice and legislation i.e. Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, Data Protection (GDPR), Gambling Commission, Health & Safety, local councils.

Management and Leadership Responsibilities:

1. Lead, manage and develop all staff within the fundraising team including volunteers and students, to maximise their potential whilst promoting positive relationships and effective team working. 2. Undertake regular 1-2-1 meetings, team meetings and annual appraisals with staff. 3. Manage the operational processes within the fundraising team for the effective delivery of fundraising targets. 4. Work collaboratively with all key stakeholders. 5. Participate in Senior Management Team meetings, Away Days, etc, to ensure the development of a strategy which meets the vision and the mission of the organisation. 6. Support the planning, implementation and monitoring of operational plans to deliver financial targets for all income streams. 7. Support the Marketing & Communications Officer with all relevant fundraising communications. 8. Support the development and implementation of the Hospice’s strategy for legacy and in memoriam giving. 9. Deputise for the Head of Income Generation, as appropriate, in their absence. Professional Responsibilities:

1. Ensure all members of the fundraising team work in a way which reflects the values of the Hospice. 2. Contribute to interdepartmental and other meetings as required. 3. Keep abreast of best practice in fundraising management and of key developments in charity income streams. 4. Participate in public speaking engagements and presentations in support of the work and aspirations of the Hospice at Fundraising/PR events as appropriate. 5. Ensure own continuing professional and personal development. 6. Attend all relevant mandatory training sessions. 7. Promote the hospice’s vision, values and strategic objectives. 8. Comply with all Hospice policies and procedures. 9. The postholder must familiarise themselves with departmental Health and Safety Management responsibilities, both from a personal perspective and the Hospice as a whole. 10.Any other duties commensurate with the post and, as required, by the Chief Executive and/or Board of Trustees.
