This forty member ensemble meets spring semester only, its members selected by audition at the end of fall semester. The Wind Ensemble performs the widest diversity of music of any of the bands and usually tours spring semester. The Wind Ensemble has appeared at several state conventions, and is the host ensemble for the ISU An ALL TIGER CONCERT Concert Band Festival. In the spring of 2004, the ISU Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the College Band Directors Regional Conference which was hosted in Reno, NV. Music featuring scholarships are awarded to majors and non-majors on the basis of musical ability. Many scholarship awards are given to students the Idaho State University Tiger who participate in band, choir or orchestra. Piano scholarships are also available. Applications for all music awards may be Wind Ensemble obtained from the Music Department. Idaho State offers a wide and range of bands, including the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Bands I & II, Bengal Marching Band, the Jerome High School Tiger Percussion Ensemble & Caribbean Steel Band. Symphonic Band The Jerome High School Symphonic Band gained regional recognition in January with its performance alongside the Dallas Brass. It has received outstanding ratings at district festivals, and often performed in concerts broadcast on-line. The JHS Pep Band is recognized as one of the most dynamic and entertaining basketball bands in southern Idaho, with a wide repertoire of Monday, April 14th, 2008 music and dances, and recently returned from performing in Boise at the state championship girls’ basketball tournament in 9 a.m. February, where they helped JHS win the sportsmanship trophy. Jerome High School Jerry Diehl Auditorium The Pit Orchestra premiered last spring with the school’s first Broadway musical, “Kiss Me Kate”, and has started preparations for this year’s musical, “Annie Get Your Gun”.
