Lights and Sound Effects: The Addams Family

Page Lights Sound Powerpoint on loop during the 30 minutes before the show starts. Specialty lights on family for introduction 1 Opening scene is in the graveyard. Cold, night- time lighting. It would be great if we could have foliage gobos making patterns on the floor of the stage since the lines talk about the actors standing under their “family tree” 4 When Fester dances and the Ancestors start up, I’d love a specialty lights effect like the Aurora Borealis. We’ll also use this effect at the end of the show. 6 At the end of the song, as applause dies down there should be a quick light change. Ideally we need three special light spaces at the bottom of the stage (single specialty lights)

One light goes up on Wednesday stage right for her line.

The second specialty would go up on Fester, although we could do without this and just sneak lights up enough to see him.

The third specialty light (or second if we don’t do a specialty on Fester) goes up on Lucas stage left for his line. 7-8 Lighting on the front while the back is just light Hand held mic for Brian Overture enough for the set change. 8 Addams Great Hall—warm indoor lighting. Late Door bell (This should have an old, afternoon horror-movie sort of ring) 12 Ideally there would be a light effect each time GOMEZ starts to sing “—THINGS”—changing the color of the stage lights to let the audience know we’re inside Gomez’s head. This could be sacrificed, though, if we need the lights for other effects. 17-20 Sounds of ratchet being turned on the rack 18 Thud and cat meow from being thrown on the floor. 23 Rat squeak 26-30 Outdoors, late afternoon 30 Lightning Thunder 30-31 Both inside the house and outside in the park 31- House, early evening. Ideally we would have some light sources on-stage or hanging from the grid. 32 Doorbell 33 Door slam 55 Lightning strike on platform Lightning strike on platform 59 Whistling to Always Look on the Bright Side—Landis can’t whistle 62 Dinner gong 62- 8 p.m. lighting 68 Grandma goes out in the audience. Follow spot? 70-71 Moody, dark lighting. Spotlight on Alice? 74 Storm: Thunder, lightning, strong winds Storm: Thunder, lightning, strong winds Act II 76- Late at night Powerpoint during intermission 86 Switch to blue-ish magical light with moonlight through the windows or sky gobos 88 Back to previous lighting 96 Crossbow being fired—arrow piercing an apple. 114 Fade to previous moonlight effect. Actors will be moving on with candles.
