Pitner Patriot Science Olympiad Application

1 2016 - 2017 Pitner Patriot Science Olympiad Application

Congratulations! You have taken the first step to joining the Pitner Science Olympiad Team. Science Olympiad is a national organization dedicated to promoting science, and we at Pitner are interested in motivated students who are interested in joining the team. This team is a competition team. Science Olympiad is NOT a club, we are an academic, competition team.

This year, our team will consist of 15 motivated and highly qualified students. According to Science Olympiad rules, the team can consist of third, fourth, and fifth graders with a maximum of eight fifth graders. We will select the best combination of third, fourth, and fifth grade students to insure Pitner a strong, competitive team. The cost to join our team will be $10.00. This will be used to defray team costs.

Your next step is to review the schedule of practices and events for conflicts with your other commitments, and then fully complete the 3-part application attached and submit the application by the due date. Please return only attached Part I, II and III (pages 3, 4 and 5) by October 9 th to Mrs. Ucciferri or Mrs. Franco. The schedule is listed on the next page. In this application you will need to get permissions and an endorsement from your teacher and answer several questions. You will be scored on your application. The most qualified students will be asked to join the Pitner team. Please remember in completing the application that spelling, grammar, punctuation, completeness and neatness are important communication tools to scientists.

The application may be word processed or handwritten. You may write on the back of pages or add a page if you need, but you need to keep the first two pages for your records.

Thank you for applying to the Pitner Science Olympiad Team,

Your Coaches,

Mrs. Ucciferri (STEM Lab) and Mrs. Franco (5th Grade)
