JOB TITLE: WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR C2 OCCUPATION: Skilled Craft Workers (07) FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (Union) JOB CODE EXT: OPERC2-0001 POSTING DATE:

A. OVERALL PURPOSE/SUMMARY Under general supervision, performs skilled work in operating and maintaining stationary engines, turbines and high pressure boilers, and associated equipment and machinery; and performs related work as required.

B. SCOPE OF DEPARTMENT

Plant Operation or Maintenance.

C. INTERFACES

Internal: The incumbent typically interfaces with other plant or operations personnel.

External: Not typically applicable.

D. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Performs any combination of (but not limited to) the following duties according to specific departmental guidelines:

1. Operates steam and gas turbines to generate electric power. 2. Operates steam engine and associated compressors, pumps, motors and valves. 3. Operates diesel and electric air compressors. WWP Oper. C2 Page 2 of 3 pgs.

4. Supervises and operates high pressure steam boilers. 5. Inspects equipment and monitors gauges, charts and meters. 6. Adjusts valves, fans, engine speeds, fuel supply, pump pressures and steam pressures as required to maintain proper operating levels. 7. Lubricates equipment and checks bearing temperatures, fluid levels and operating pressures. 8. Packs pumps, replaces bushings, bearings, motor brushes and drive belts. 9. Orders required parts, supplies and equipment as needed. 10. Keeps operating log of equipment in service and records temperatures, pressures and reservoir elevations and other operating data. 11. May supervise lubricating and clean up work. 12. Observe safe work practices. 13. *Perform other related work as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

E. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Requirements 1. Graduation from high school and three years of experience performing skilled work in the operation and maintenance of stationary engines, turbines and boilers. Additional related education maybe substituted for work experience. 2. Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of stationary engines, boilers and associated equipment 3. Good knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and supplies pertinent to the trade. 4. Ability to operate and maintain a variety of stationary engines, boilers and associated equipment. 5. Ability to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and drawings. 6. Ability to keep records. 7. Must not have facial hair that would impede proper seal of breathing apparatus.

F. LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR PERMIT

Minimum Requirements

1. Possession of a Stationary Engineer's License issued by the State of Ohio. WWP Oper. C2 Page 3 of 3 pgs.

G. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Exposure to usual noise associated with equipment and plant environment. 2. May be exposed to noises associated with traffic and two-way radios. 3. May be exposed to odors from laboratory field samples. 4. Exposure to atmospheric conditions such as heat, cold, dust, fumes, vapors, or mists.
