Developments in Professions

– Observed with Social Systems Theory

All conference meetings take place in the IUC-building (300 meters North West to the main gate of the Old City at Frana Bulica 4; the large yellow three floor building); the exact room is announced at the entrance

The home-page for IUC is www.iuc.hr

The program is preliminary (some participants may need less and some more time). Presentations should be prepared (with paper, and or with power points, slides, or handouts); they should not endure more than 25-30 minutes and leave 15-20 minutes for discussions.

Preload: Wednesday 20.9: 7 p.m. (19.00) - Wednesday evening dinner in restaurant Sesam

Fee 50 Euros

In the InterUniversity Centre there is a good and cheap café to be used during the 15 minutes pause. During the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) there is an equally good café and actually quite good restaurant in front of the IUC. A computer room is at the second floor, next to the IUC secretariat.

NB in the airport 25 km South to Dubrovnik there is a Mister Cash for credit cards; one Croatian kuona is approximately = about 15 cents (0,15 Euros). A taxi costs about 30-35 euros, the bus is much cheaper; then, however you should change money immediately in the airport banking autom, ats.

If you like to swim, it is a very good idea to bring adequate swimming clothes with you since the Adriatic is about 25-26 Celcius and very good and close bathing possibilities are very nearby the centre. The normal weather in September is about 25-30 degrees max and evening about 20+. However, it can be recommended to take a raincoat in your luggage.

Questions, changes and proposals should be addressed to the conference director Gorm Harste [email protected], mobil phone ++45 6089 4668 (NB Gorm Harste will arrive Monday 14:10)

The conference days are separated according to the abstracts proposed. They – more or less – fit into a scheme of studies about classic professions and transformed, hybrid or opaque professions. Be aware that the program is very concentrated, yet we have possibilities to extend to Saturday morning – and to meet before, Wednesday and even Tuesday.

Between each presentation, we will have a short coffee/tea break

The present program is also sent to former participants from conferences about systems theory. We had conferences in April 2007, September 2009, April 2011, September 2012, May 2014, September 2015. Those who could not participate can then require information and papers from you.

Their mail-addresses are enclosed in another file with the abstracts

NB a few advices:

 Remember to bring some additional copies of your paper, or what have you!

 Make a hand-out, a power point, something on the blackboard, just to mark your presentation (we are about 22+)

 Do not read your paper from the beginning to the end (less if you’re a master in the art of doing it); yet you may concentrate on some central parts of the paper

 Remember to leave time for questions and comments!!
