Job Description— Staff Accountant NovusWay, Inc.

General The primary responsibilities of the Staff Accountant relate to routine monthly accounting data entry to enable the production of accurate internal financial statements. She/he reports directly to the VP of Finance and Support Services, but works with and provides information to other staff members and volunteers as needed.

Qualifications The Staff Accountant shall be a person committed to Jesus Christ and the Church and dedicated to working in a church-related organization. She/he shall have bookkeeping and/or accounting knowledge, skills and experience in working with people and in an office environment, with a willingness to learn how the NovusWay program fits with the business office needs. The Staff Accountant needs to have a temperament that finds enjoyment in handling a variety of tasks and a work ethic that pays good attention to detail. She/he shall have a general knowledge of standard office equipment and experience with FastFund or other accounting software.

Specific Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: - Data entry of daily and recurring General Journal Entries. Maintaining and organizing filing of all entries. - Reconciling all bank statements along with keeping clear documentation on the separation of restricted, operating and endowment funds - Billing of the Lutheridge Residential Community every two months - Bi-yearly billing to the state of North Carolina to receive sale and use tax refunds - Monthly reconciliation of Campaign pledges and giving reports with the Development office records. - Assist with ministry insurance administration; specifically auto coverage/claims and site claims. - Assist with collections in the Registration Department - Serve as back data entry for Development Assistant - Serve as back up store clerk for the Camp Store as needed during regular office hours, defined as 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. - Working with and supporting volunteers in the business office as necessary especially as they help to ease the work overload in the summer months - Performing other duties relating to the Business Office and with growth, the future needs of NovusWay Ministries. Skills: - Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for word processing and daily office functions. Willingness and ability to become proficient with the organizations accounting software, FastFund, for database processing and financial reporting.

- Excellent skills in the basics of language (spelling, punctuation, grammar/usage) and in communication (a pleasant voice and personality for communicating over the phone, good listening skills and manners, ability to resolve conflict) and in customer service.

- Ability to work independently, organize time and prioritize tasks.

- Personal integrity sufficient to treat confidential information in complete and total confidence.

- Ability to see the job as part of a ministry and to exhibit a commitment to teamwork with other employees.

Due to proper audit guidelines the Staff Accountant may not deposit funds, does not write checks for NovusWay, nor may she/he sign NovusWay checks.

Support and Compensation:

- The Staff Accountant will be a year round, part time, and hourly position. This is a Category VII employee, subject to all policies and benefits of Category VII as outlined in NovusWay personnel policies. An annual performance review will be given as outlined in staff policies.
