CAPEL CURIG TRAINING CAMP

BRIEFING PACK CAPEL CURIG TRAINING CAMP BRIEFING POINTS

Welcome to Capel Curig Training Camp (CCTC). Please read these notes and brief your troops accordingly.

UNIT POINT OF CONTACT (POC)

It is essential that each unit nominate a POC, who is to enter their mobile number in the POC file held in the Guard Room.

UNIT DUTIES

All units (including cadets, who must appoint an adult instructor) are to provide a COS/SOS (Offr/WO/SNCO/JNCO) who is to attend all meals and be responsible for recording all comments made by members of their unit regarding the catering.

The COS/SOS is to bring complaints to the attention of the catering staff and also report it to the TSO at the earliest opportunity.

Individual members are not to complain directly.

The COS/SOS is to record his attendance in the Duty Officer book situated at the end of the hotplate.

Cadets are to be supervised by an adult instructor at all times during their stay at CCTC.

Any incidents are to be reported to the MGS who will inform the TSO.

QUIET HOURS

Noise levels are to be kept to a minimum after 2330hrs.

AF7764

AF7764s must be filled out daily and they are to be completed as per the attached examples, and must be accompanied by a typed Nominal Roll. Blank AF7764s are attached to this pack to cover the duration of your stay, if you require more see the LSS AO/Booking Clerk, or the ESS Catering Manager. AREA CLEANING

Units are to carry out area cleaning around their accommodation and communal areas that have been in use each morning before deploying.

FIRE PRACTICE

It is essential that a Fire Call is carried out within the first 24 hours of occupation (do not attempt to sound the alarm) and that all ranks are aware of the location of, and routes to the Fire Assembly Point (through main gate and car park onto the grass).

The Fire Alarm will be tested at 0900hrs each Monday.

EMERGENCY TELEPHONE

There is a telephone in the Guard Room for emergency calls, dial 0 - 999. Please acquaint yourself and your troops with its location.

CAMP STANDING ORDERS

Please acquaint yourself with Camp Standing Orders that are held in the guard room.

COUNTRYSIDE CODE

Please obey the Countryside Code (see attached).

PARKING

Green vehicles are to be parked in camp, private and white fleet vehicles will be parked on the car park opposite the main gate.

In the event of over crowding those that have arrived in private vehicles will be asked to park off camp.

MEAL TIMINGS

Breakfast - 0700hrs to 0800hrs (collection of packed meals). Dinner - 1800hrs to 1900hrs.

PACKED MEALS

To avoid waste and to allow camp staff to monitor the contents of packed meals, please do not throw away unwanted items. Unwanted food should be collected and taken to the Guard Room.

BBQ

Units are to book the BBQ Area through the LSS AO/Booking Clerk. A Food Handling Certificate is required and you provide your own charcoal. Units are to ensure that the area is left clean and tidy but ashes can be removed the following day.

QUALIFICATIONS

All instructors /leaders are to be fully qualified in accordance with current regulations; they are also responsible for completing their own Risk Assessments.

CLIMBING/ABSEILING TOWER

The climbing and abseiling tower may be booked out via the guard room.

LECTURE THEATRES

There are 3 lecture theatres available and can be booked through the MGS.

TRIM TRAIL

The Trim Trail is available for use at any time without booking. Cadets must be supervised by a qualified person.

ARCHERY

Units wishing to use the Trim Trail field for archery are to seek the permission of the TSO and are responsible for producing their own Risk Assessment.

FREE WIFI

Free Wifi is available. Please see the TSO for the code.

CAMP MAP

A map is attached to aide in your orientation.

LAUNDRY

The laundry is located in Bld 18 and is open 24 hours. The machines only take £1 COINS

One wash costs £2. The cost of the dryer is £1 for 2 x 15 minute cycles, you must press the green button again at the end of the first cycle.

Please ensure you leave the laundry in a clean and tidy condition.

ACTIONS PRIOR TO AND POST TRAINING

Before deploying check the weather, a report is available from reception.

Complete an Activity Sheet (available in reception), one sheet for each activity and place in your pigeon hole along with your accommodation keys.

If you are deploying on an expedition place your Activity Sheet in the expedition pigeon hole.

Ensure that you are in possession of the telephone number for the Guard Room.

If you are going to be late returning you must inform the Guard Room.

On return place your Activity Sheet in the ‘completed’ pigeon hole.

ACTIONS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY/ACCIDENT

Remove the casualty from further harm.

Administer First Aid.

Dial 999 (if required) and task the emergency services. Inform the TSO via the Guard Room on: 01690 720 291.

Minor injuries should be reported locally on MOD Form 510 (available in the reception).

Any injuries that require hospital treatment or cause the casualty to be awarded 3 days or more light duties should be reported to AINC on: 01264 382 055 or 94391 2055.

Serious injuries should be reported to LAIT on: 01264 383 080 or 94391 3080. Post incident, please brief the TSO.

MEDICAL

Details of local doctors, hospitals and RAF Valley Medical Centre are posted in the Guard Room.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation must be handed back between 0800hrs and 1100hrs on your day of departure.

When departing CCTC please complete a Unit Survey Form and the Landmarc Accommodation Usage Detail Form and hand them to the LSS AO/Booking Clerk.

CAMPING GROUND

Units using the Camping Ground are to produce their own set of Fire Orders in addition to CCTC Fire Orders.

SUMMARY

CCTC provides an excellent base for units wishing to take part in Adventurous Training.

In order for you to get the most out of your stay here, and to assist the Permanent Staff with the smooth running of the camp please comply with the previously mentioned points.
