PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Working together to tackle isolation and loneliness among older people.

“Through participation in the programme, older people will be reconnected to local networks and their involvement will strengthen their communities and improve their well- being”

With a job-share partner:

1. To manage the Ageing Better in Camden Programme, working with the ABC Board, to deliver the outcomes as agreed with Big Lottery Fund.

2. To be responsible for the delivery of the Ageing Better in Camden (ABC) projects, including through working with a range of delivery agencies.

3. To report on progress to the Big Lottery Fund – budget, outcomes and outputs.

4. To promote the ABC programme throughout Camden working with partners and older people, including development and co-design of the Ageing Better in Camden Network.

Additionally: 5. To lead on the evaluation of the ABC programme manageing the relationship with Ecorys (national evaluators) and National Development Team for Inclusion (local evaluation contractors).

6. To lead on managing the ABC budget working, together with Age UK’s Finance Manager.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management and Development

1. To liaise with the Big Lottery on Ageing Better in Camden, and its support contractors Hall Aitken (a “critical friend”), and to take responsibility for meeting their requirements with regard to reports, monitoring, evaluation, attendance at meetings etc.

2. To manage the contractor/sub-contractor relationships in project delivery, including:

(a) Managing the tendering and appraisal processes to choose delivery partners; (b) Developing SLAs to determine responsibilities around delivery, information supply, finances; (c) Managing the SLAs, taking remedial action (e.g. withholding funds) if necessary. 3. Report to, support, advise and arrange training for the ABC Strategic Board and any sub-groups providing documents/information when necessary. 4. Liaise with the local programme evaluation partner and with Ecorys as the Big Lottery’s national evaluation partner. 5. To lead on managing the ABC budget working together with Age UK Finance Manager. 6. Ensure that the needs and views of older people play a leading role in the development and delivery of ABC through the Older Peoples Advisory Group and the Ageing Better in Camden Network. 7. Manage the Training/Events Organiser (part-time) to ensure the ABC team arranges events and conferences in Camden to share learning, build new partnerships and co-operate with the Lottery (and its agents) to share learning on the national programme. 8. Support sustainability planning in relation to all elements of the Partnership programme. 9. To take the lead on ensuring that all projects meet required Quality Standards, and implement effective monitoring and evaluation systems. 10. Co-ordinate project and/or team meetings. 11. Deal with all complaints in accordance with procedures. 12. Ensure effective marketing of the project and services via leaflets, talks, adverts, mailings, promotions etc. 13. To take the lead on any corporate issue related to services delivery and development e.g. quality assurance, internal monitoring and evaluation systems, links to BME led organisations

Responsibilities as an Age UK Camden Senior Manager including Finance

14. To take the lead on planning, management and control of budgets in relation to all relevant cost centres. 15. To participate in the annual budgetary planning cycle, in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer and other managers. 16. To undertake responsibilities appropriate to the post under Age UK Camden/Ageing Better In Camden’s financial procedures and regulations, including (where relevant) oversight of petty cash imprest accounts, ordering goods and services, authorising expenditure. 17. To present reports from time to time to Age UK Camden’s Board of Trustees (this will not be regularly because the ABC Partnership Board’s role).

18. To undertake regular supervision and training.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1. The post may involve occasional evening or weekend work, for which time off in lieu can be claimed. 2. Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated guidance, it is the duty of all staff while at work to take adequate care for the health and safety of themselves and of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions. 3. Age UK Camden operates a no smoking policy and all staff are required to comply with this. 4. The postholder is required to carry out the duties and responsibilities of their post with due regard to the practical implications of Age UK Camden's Diversity/ Equal Opportunities Policy. 5. All staff are required to work within Age UK Camden's policies, ensuring these are carried out in relation to the job, e.g., Confidentiality, Quality. 6. To undertake any other clerical or administrative duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade as requested by the Line Manager. 7. To undertake any other tasks commensurate with the skills of the postholder as may be reasonably required by AUC from time to time. 8.
