She joins an elite alumnae association of past 26 state winners, including three Hillcrest players who also took home 27 this coveted award; and 28 29 Whereas, the sixfoot outside hitter led the Rams to a 585 record 30 and their third consecutive Class AAAA State Championship this 31 past season. A Class AAAA First Team AllState selection as 32 named by the South Carolina Coaches Association for Women’s 33 Sports, Maddie amassed 509 kills, compiling a .404 hitting 34 percentage and .513 kill percentage, to go along with 392 digs, 56 35 blocks, and 25 service aces. In the Rams’ 32 titleclinching victory 36 against Wando, she totaled 23 digs, 17 kills, four service aces, and 37 three blocks; and 38 39 Whereas, a fine student, Maddie has maintained a 3.61 GPA in the 40 classroom. As a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes 41 and her school’s Solid Rock Club, she has volunteered on behalf of 42 her church, the Meals on Wheels Association of America, Harvest

[4435] 2 1 Outreach Center, Feed My Starving Children, and Generations 2 Group Home. She also has donated her time to the organization of 3 a childcare service for specialneeds children; and 4 5 Whereas, Hillcrest Head Coach Lynn Avant says of her, “Maddie 6 is a great allaround player. She can take over a match with her 7 attacking and her blocking. When the game is on the line, she 8 wants the ball. That’s the kind of player you love to have around”; 9 and 10 11 Whereas, the Gatorade Player of the Year program annually 12 recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 13 fifty states in a number of sports, awarding one National Player of 14 the Year in each of them. The selection process is administered by 15 the Gatorade high school sports leadership team in partnership 16 with USA TODAY High School Sports; and 17 18 Whereas, with great pleasure, the House of Representatives pauses 19 in its deliberations to salute this daughter of South Carolina on 20 winning the coveted 20132014 Gatorade South Carolina 21 Volleyball Player of the Year award, and the members wish her the 22 best as she steps into what is sure to be a bright future.
