Young 21 Document Path: l:\council\bills\rm\1297htc10.docx 22 23 Introduced in the House on May 25, 2010 24 Adopted by the House on May 25, 2010 25 26 Summary: Irmo High School Air Force Junior ROTC Program 27 28 29 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 30 31 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 32 5/25/2010 House Introduced and adopted HJ31 33 34 35 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 36 37 5/25/2010 38 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO CONGRATULATE THE AIR FORCE JUNIOR ROTC 12 PROGRAM OF IRMO HIGH SCHOOL ON BEING CHOSEN 13 AS THE BEST AIR FORCE JUNIOR ROTC UNIT IN THE 14 STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA. 15 16 Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to note that the 17 Air Force Junior ROTC of Irmo High School has been named the 18 best Air Force Junior ROTC unit in the State of South Carolina by 19 the Air Force Association; and 20 21 Whereas, Irmo’s unit was selected for the honor out of fortythree 22 units statewide; and 23 24 Whereas, the second such honor for the Irmo unit in three years 25 and the fourth overall, the award, called the Sword of Excellence, 26 was presented on April 24, 2010, at the Air Force Association 27 convention in Summerville; and 28 29 Whereas, much to be commended for their leadership of the Irmo 30 unit, Colonel Jay Seward and Chief Master Sergeant Steve Turner 31 have exercised their own talents and skills to build a topquality 32 Junior ROTC program. In the process, they have also instilled 33 lessons in respect and discipline into these young people that will 34 stand them in good stead all their lives; and 35 36 Whereas, this prestigious award confirms the dedication, hard 37 work, expertise, and unity of these students and their sponsors. The 38 House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the 39 Irmo High School Air Force Junior ROTC program for being 40 named the recipient of this honor, and the members look forward 41 to hearing of further achievements in the days to come. Now, 42 therefore,

[5019] 2 1 2 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 3 4 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 5 by this resolution, congratulate the Air Force Junior ROTC 6 program of Irmo High School on being chosen as the best Air 7 Force Junior ROTC unit in the State of South Carolina. 8 9 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 10 Principal Eddie Walker of Irmo High School and Colonel Jay 11 Seward of the school’s Air Force Junior ROTC program. 12 XX 13
