Cues: Straight arm Eye on ball Pretend hit

Equipment: 8 paddles, balloons, nerf balls

Protocols: 1, 2, 3 Bring it in Freeze Criss-cross applesauce

Set Induction: How are you all doing today?! Oh my gosh I had to think hard of something that we haven’t done yet that wouldn’t be to easy for you guys because you all have done such a fantastic job on everything else! So what activity can you think of that might involve using something to hit a ball (target)? Right, golf, hockey and baseball. Today you are going to be pro baseball players on a team getting ready before a big game. What do you have to do before a big game? Right you need to practice.

Content Development: Now everyone is going to get a balloon and I want everyone to go and stand on a line in front of the wall. I want everyone to raise their favorite coloring hand and turn where that coloring hand is farthest from the wall. Awesome job, so your not favorite hand is close to the wall. Now take your balloon in your non favorite hand and stretch your arm all the way out in front of you. Great stretching that are guys! Everyone look at me and see how I’m going to take my favorite coloring hand and make it flat, and I am going to hit the balloon that I’m holding. Now I need everyone to remember to have a straight arm, flat hand and focus on your balloon. Everyone try and hit your balloon with your favorite coloring hand ten times. Great hitting guys, you all are having an awesome practice. Everyone turn the other way now and switch arms. So this time you are going to be holding the ball in your favorite coloring hand and your flat hand is going to be your not favorite hand. Now try to focus on the balloon and hit it 10 times! Freeze and everyone bring it in. Now that you all are warmed up we are going to use paddles and balloons. So I need everyone to get one paddle and one balloon and go get on your line and show my your hitting position. You all look like professionals! You have the balloon in your non favorite hand and the paddle flat in your favorite hand. Remember to keep that arm straight and focus on the balloon. Now everyone hit the balloon ten times! Switch sides like before! You all are amazing me. We have to make this more challenging. So everyone go trade in your balloon for a nerf ball. Walk to the hula hoop and get one like a respectable teammate. Great job. To make things different I want everyone to go pick a different spot. Now you get to pick which arm you want to hit with, okay? So everyone get ready and practice keeping your arm straight and eye on the ball! Practice ten times!

Culminating Activity: Partners with the balls. Have them using light force on the paddles.

Closure: Oh my gosh! You all have surprised me again! I don’t know what to think! I believe that if we really did have a game that you all would be ready to win it! What do you say?! Awesome. So before Ms. Ashley comes to show you all some other fantastic things we are going to do today can someone raise their hand and show me how you stand to hit a target? Super job!
