CHEST HEART & STROKE SCOTLAND
COMMUNITY STROKE NURSE SERVICE
Dear Student
Welcome to the CHSS Community Stroke Specialist Nursing Team based at the Stroke Nurse Office at Cameron Hospital, Windygates. When you telephone us prior to commencing the placement we will give you more detailed directions as to where to find us and any other information you may require. The hospital is accessible by local bus services. Adequate car parking is available.
We facilitate a smooth transition from hospital back into the community for people who have had a stroke and their families Fife wide. There are three nurses within the team: Jane Chalmers (Lead Nurse) who covers Central Fife, Margo Martin – North East Fife/Levenmouth and Rhona Martin – West Fife.
We would request that you wear smart casual clothing (no jeans or trainers please). You may require a warm coat and hooded jacket dependent on the weather and you should wear appropriate footwear. During your time with us we will facilitate various learning opportunities which may mean that you will need to wear your uniform.
There are canteen facilities available at Cameron Hospital when office based but you would require a packed lunch or money for when you are out on visits for the day.
As there is minimal storage available we would ask that you try not to bring valuables with you and that if you have a mobile phone we would prefer that this is switched off or on silent during your placement unless prior arrangements have been made with your mentor.
We look forward to working with you.
With Regards
CHSS Community Stroke Specialist Nursing Team
