Okonkwo Character Analysis Take Home Final for TFA Assigned: 3/16/12 Due: Thursday, 3/22/12

What is your opinion about Okonkwo so far? What is he like? How do others perceive him? What does he value? What does he believe? How does he treat others in the book? Etc.

In this project, you will choose one of the following options as a method for analyzing Okonkwo’s character. Choose one option and follow the prompt. Your completed project is due on Friday, March 23rd.

Option One: Soliloquy

A Soliloquy is defined as: “A device often used in drama whereby a character speaks to himself, relating his thoughts and feelings, thereby also sharing them with the audience.”

Write a soliloquy from Okonkwo’s perspective in which he reflects upon how he ACTUALLY feels about a scene of your choice from the book. You may also wish to write your soliloquy about how he ACTUALLY feels about another character from the book.

 You must cite the scene(s) you choose to write about by using MLA citation: o You should use at least 1 direct quote from the text

 Minimum of 400 words, typed (about 2 pages double spaced).

Option Two: Modern Day Okonkwo Short Story

Write a short story in which Okonwko’s character has been transplanted to modern day. You can write about a day in his life, or write about an important event in his life. Some things to consider: What might a modern day Okonkwo do for a living? How does he treat the people around him? How would he be viewed by society and/or people in your community?

This writing is fiction- you must be as descriptive as possible

Minimum of 400 words, typed (about 2 pages double spaced).
