Dr. Ok-Kyong Park Sarge Dr. Hollie Swanson Stem Cats-Spring 2016 Section 65 Mondays: 10-11:50 Wednesdays: 10-10:50 Meeting room: MN 242 except for Feb. 3 Laboratory: MS 372 Goal: To understand how we identify potential drug-drug interactions. We will determine whether drugs used as nutritional supplements may interfere with breast cancer treatment. Approaches: We will use yeast as model systems for identifying drug-drug interactions.

Students will grow up yeast containing estrogen receptors and estrogen- responsive genes, will culture them with different estrogen ligands (agonist, antagonists and “putative” ligands), then assay for activity using LacZ as the read-out.
