SUNFLOWER GROWTH LAB INTRODUCTION

This summer Mr. Primmer’s three year old daughter, Emma, grew a sunflower. She planted it in May and it grew steadily throughout the summer.

The goal of this lab is for you to grow as sunflower plant as big as Emma’s sunflower!

The purpose of this lab is to see how the height of your sunflower changes over time. You will carefully track your observations.

You will answer these questions in the discussion section of your lab write up: 1. Was your sunflower on track for growing as tall as Emma’s sunflower? 2. What were the reasons for this? (at least 3) 3. What do you think was the most important reason for this? Why? 4. How do the results of this lab relate to how important the environment is in the growth and health of plants?
