JOB PROFILE

Job Title: Maintenance Technician at Kilroot

Reports To: Maintenance Controller

Department: Maintenance

Date: 24 August 2017

1. Job Purpose: To be an active part of an integrated maintenance team with responsibility for carrying out maintenance, overhauls, defect investigation on all items of plant and equipment and report on plant condition as required. Supports the safe, efficient and profitable operation of the plant and contributes to the achievement of company objectives and business targets.

Plant over which duties extends includes, but is not restricted: - 2x 300MW thermal boiler, turbine generator units 2 x 30MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine units (Avons) 2 x 42MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine units (Frame 6)

All auxiliary and ancillary plant associated with the above mentioned units.

Dimensions: Plant responsibility:- To provide technical support in one of three key areas:-

1) Mechanical Maintenance - responsibility for mechanical maintenance activities for plant within schedule defined above. 2) Control & Instrument Maintenance - responsibility for control and instrumentation maintenance activities for plant within schedule defined above. .

3) Electrical Maintenance - responsibility for electrical maintenance activities including LV, HV switchgear and systems, plant systems and site infrastructure for plant within schedule defined above. 1 .

1. Provide effective communications and ensure good staff relationships.

Operational Responsibilities

Compliance / Legal

1. Ensures activities are completed in accordance with the defined maintenance systems and AES policies/procedures.

Financial / Commercial

2. Identify commercial impact of maintenance activities and take cognisance of in decision making associated with plant downtime.

3. Understands the concept of plant “Criticality”, and takes cognisance of in decision making associated with maintenance activities.

4. Understands the impact of plant efficiency on fuel margin, and takes cognisance of in decision making associated with maintenance activities.

2 3 Strategy / Maintenance

1. Carries out all forms of maintenance (routine, overhaul, breakdown etc) and defect investigation on all designated plant to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant in accordance with overall company objectives.

2. Identifies and sources spares required to facilitate maintenance. Will require utilisation of SAP for stock spares as well as liaison with external suppliers and OEM’s to identify and source suitable parts. Required to identify and setup new stock items within SAP system as required

3. Implements maintenance strategies to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant and carries out work to specified and appropriate standards. Contributes to the development, and review of maintenance strategies.

4. Contributes to the development of maintenance plans in conjunction with other maintenance team members and other Departments.

5. Authorised to appropriate level in accordance with AES safety rules. With be required to interface directly with Operations staff in respect to the application of the safety documentation system. Operates the relevant permit requesting process in requesting and execution of maintenance works.

6. Authorised to appropriate level with respect to Risk Assessment creation and approval.

7. Extensive use of the SAP system for the identification of work, work management and time keeping.

Personnel / Interfaces

1. Liaises closely with the other maintenance functions and other departments to ensure the effective co-ordination of activities and optimisation of resources.

2. Primarily works within one of the three maintenance functions but is required to provide support within the other maintenance function as and when required.

3. Supervises contractor works to ensure completion as per specification in respect to quality cost and time.

4. Participate in development and training both as trainee and trainer as required.

4 Engineering / Technical

1. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement through plant monitoring, fault diagnosis and other maintenance techniques.

2. Initiates modifications and adjustments consistent with improved plant performance and executes through application of plant change control procedure.

3. Reports on plant condition and carries out repairs, modifications and installation of new or replacement equipment as required.

4. Technical ability and experience to carry out ‘live work’ on or near live conductors. Applicable to Electrical & C&I.

5. Ability to install apparatus, inspect and test in order to comply with DSEAR/ATEX regulations. Applicable to Electrical and C&I.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

1. Relevant experience of plant operation and / or maintenance (power plant experience preferred).

2. Relevant mechanical, electrical or instrumentation apprenticeship.

3. Displays good numerical skills and takes a logical approach to problem solving.

4. Have a good understanding of relevant maintenance philosophies, existing and proposed technical legislation, company policy and legal obligations.
