Algebra IA Common Core Syllabus

Algebra IA Common Core Syllabus

 This is a two-semester course covering the Algebra 1 Common Core California

State Standards.

. First semester will cover important prerequisite skills taught in Pre-Algebra

. Second semester will cover Exponents, Radicals and Polynomials,

Quadratic Functions, and end with Probability and Statistics.

 We will be using the Springboard Algebra 1 Common Core Consumable

Textbook as the framework for instruction, but there will be worksheets to

supplement the textbook throughout the course. You will be writing in the

textbook and on the worksheets. Your book will stay in the classroom as we will

only use portions of the book (packets) as needed. You will keep the packets in

your folder until they are to be turned in.

 Recommended Daily Materials:

. 2 pencils

. 1 pen (not red)

. 1 highlighter (any color)

. 1 three-ring binder with: pockets, lined paper, & graph paper  Assignments:

. You are responsible for completing classwork as well as homework as

often as it is assigned.

. All work will be referred to as an “Assignment”. There is no separation of

classwork and homework. Whatever you do not finish in class you will

take home to finish.

 Tests/Quizzes:

. We will have approximately 12 quizzes and three major tests as well as a

Cumulative Final Exam.

 Absent Days:

. If you know in advance that you will be absent, please make arrangements with me. Since this is a new textbook, a new way of learning, and a new way of teaching, it is very important that you do not fall behind in your work.

. Make-Up Work: . With an excused absence, you have the same amount of days to make up the work as you were absent. So, if you are absent for 2 days, and then you have 2 days to catch up.

. If you are absent on a review day, then you are required to take the EA or PT scheduled for the following day.

. If you are absent on an EA or PT day, you will take the assessment during the day that you return to school.
