17th Annual Yavapai Classic Cruisers Car Show-June 17, 2017

Saturday, June 17, 2017, was a beautiful day in Prescott for the 17th Annual Yavapai Classic Cruisers of Arizona car show held at the Mile High Middle School grounds. At the beginning of the show, 92 vehicles were pre-registered. Before long, the field had 190 cars, trucks, race cars, sand rails, rat rods and antiques that filled the available space.

The show judging was handled by the four members of the AAHC who traveled from the heat of Phoenix to enjoy the low 90’s temperature of Prescott. A local radio station had its remote station broadcasting classic tunes for the crowd. Since this is a fund raiser for the Middle School and the Prescott Meals on Wheels program, there was over $7300 worth of raffle prizes waiting to be won. After the winners received their very distinctive awards for their rides, 2-people won $300 each in the 50/50 Raffle.

Best in Show winner was a 1954 Jaguar XK120 Coupe. Best Mopar was a 1971 Dodge Challenger. Best GM was a 1949 Oldsmobile Convertible. Best Ford was a 1931 Ford 5- Window Coupe. Best Street Rod was a 1931 Ford Model A 5-Window coupe. Best Original was a 1953 Hudson Hornet. Best Modified was a 1956 Chevrolet Bel-Air. Kids Choice was a 1957 Ford Thunderbird. The Meals on Wheels Choice was a 1966 Dodge Charger. In total, there were 12 Best in class winners for the Modified category and 12 Best in Class winners for the Original/Restored category.

The members of Yavapai Classic Cruisers of Arizona Car Club put a very successful car show. As of Thursday, June 22, the early results are: Yavapai Classic Cruisers will have about $ 5,000 and that is awesome for our little bitty car show. They will be able to donate to Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Mayer area Meals on Wheels programs. The car show also raised more than $3,300 for Mile High Middle School on the gate and the food receipts.

Since the field of competition was almost full, I would highly recommend that for 2018, interested car people should get their reservations into the YCC as soon as the pre- registration opens. For information, look up www.yccaz. org. Don’t be left on the outside as spectators!
