Launch Operator/Dockmaster

Job Description SUNY Maritime’s Waterfront in McMurray Hall seeks students to support one of the best programs and facilities in the country. The launch operator/dockmaster will facilitate kayak rentals and club activities, help the dinghy, offshore and crew teams getting on the water each afternoon, and assist the Waterfront staff with facility maintenance and operations.

Responsibilities . Help maintain the waterfront as an organized, safe and fun environment for students, faculty, staff and the community. . Provide launch service for the offshore sailing team, dinghy sailing team and sailing club. . Supervise the check-out/in and operation of kayaks . Support waterfront operations including: o Facilities maintenance (i.e. cleaning, painting) o Facilities operation (i.e. signing out kayaks, safety, organization) o Boat maintenance (i.e. painting, cleaning) o Boat repair (i.e. fiberglass, engine work) . Assist with the set-up, operation, supervision and instruction of student activities (i.e. kayaking), regattas, and other special events . Willingness to do whatever it takes to help the sailing and crew teams, students/clubs, faculty and staff make full use of the Waterfront.

Desired Qualifications . USCG Launch Tender License or higher – strongly desired . Must be available Monday – Thursday 3 – 8 p.m. (at least two of the four days) . Experience working around the water such as at marinas and yacht clubs is helpful but not absolutely necessary. If you are responsible, eager to learn, hardworking and can complete a task independently we would love to teach you! . US POWERBOATING Safe Powerboat Handling Certification (Instructor preferred) . ACA Paddling Certifications . US SAILING Level 1 or Basic Keelboat Certification (Instructor preferred) . Waterfront Lifeguard Certification

Compensation . $8.00 - $12.00/hour depending on qualifications and experience, work study and student assistants Student Employment Opportunities Fall 2015

Job Description SUNY Maritime’s Waterfront in McMurray Hall seeks students to support one of the best programs and facilities in the country. Students eager to use their skills or to learn about sailing, power boating and the repair and maintenance of boats and related facilities are encouraged to apply. This is your chance to learn, have fun and get paid!

Responsibilities . Help maintain the waterfront as an organized, safe and fun environment for students, faculty, staff and the community. . Support waterfront operations including: o Facilities maintenance (i.e. cleaning, painting) o Facilities operation (i.e. signing out kayaks, safety, organization) o Boat maintenance (i.e. painting, cleaning) o Boat repair (i.e. fiberglass, engine work) . Assist with the set-up, operation, supervision and instruction of student activities (i.e. kayaking), regattas and other special events .
