Peer Interview Essay

Peer Interview Essay Due: Thursday, 9/15

For your first writing assignment of the year, you will be expected to compose a short essay (2 pages) in which you introduce one of your peers to the class. While asking for a person’s favorite color, food, and TV show provide little snippets that help define your classmate, we primarily want to dig into the interests and life experiences that truly make us who we are. You will be assigned a random classmate for this assignment. After you have been assigned your interview subject, find a space in the room to sit down and talk with him/her. Feel free to use the questions provided to guide the conversation, but make sure to bring your own questions to the conversation as well. This short essay should not be a straightforward listing of facts about your subject, but rather a well-rounded development of your classmate. Make sure your essay has a clear opening, body, and conclusion. Questions to Consider :

** Remember, it is important to expand and elaborate on each question so that the essay is not retelling of basic facts. 1) Describe your family. Are they important to you? Have they influenced your life to this point? 2) What do you like to do in your free time? What sparked your interest in these activities/hobbies? 3) What is your passion? Is there anything you could not live without? 4) What are your goals in life? How have you been preparing yourself to achieve these goals? 5) What are some interesting facts about yourself that others may not know? 6) What important, meaningful events have helped shaped you into the person that you are today? 7) Is there anything that you are proud to have accomplished so far in your life? What are you most proud of? 8) What is your favorite part about living in this area? If you don’t enjoy living here, what do you want for your life? 9) Basic questions (e.g., what’s your favorite ______?)
