Dear Potential RKYC Charity Regatta Sponsors,

On JUNE 18, 2016 we will be holding our fourth Annual RKYC Charity Regatta and Poker Run! We expect a fun friendly turnout that is becoming a cornerstone of club activities.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our target is to register at least 70 boats for this event. This year’s recipient will be Pro-Kids of the greater Saint John area. Pro Kids is a well-recognized local organization that has helped many local youth become exposed to healthy and rewarding sports. Sailing schools are but one example of the many sports whose doors have been open to youths through Pro Kids and their generous benefactors.

This year SSC Ship and Shore Cartage Ltd and Moncton BMW have generously stepped up to the role of our marquee sponsors. They will help defray the costs of organizing this event. We will be conducting the logistics and organizing within the club, capitalizing on the club members and volunteers. We are asking each participating boat to solicit their own sponsor! Cost of sponsorship will be $500 per boat. This donation will be funneled directly to the charitable recipient, with a tax receipt. We are also inviting groups of 2-10 people to pool their resources to sponsor a boat. When this occurs, one member of the group would collect the money, write a cheque to Pro Kids, and they would issue a receipt to that person. For those that haven’t participated before, try something new so that Saint John’s kids can also try something new!

The Wave 97.3 and CHSJ Country 94.1 are our community heralds and will promote our event liberally. If you are willing to sponsor a boat, and know of a boat, you may contact the owner/skipper directly. Alternatively, you can register you interest with John Dornan at [email protected] . John and we will coordinate boats with potential sponsors.

We are hopeful that you and your delegate(s) will enjoy the river with us that day. Rest assured, this will be a safe boating event. We will take additional steps to insure this. Alcohol and driving is strictly prohibited. We will have two safety zodiacs in attendance, and will minimize traffic congestion.

There will be a Sponsor and Captain’s social on Friday evening, June 17 th. Sponsors will also see their name on 2’ by 4’ banners, secured to the side of the sponsored boat. The RKYC logo will also be on the banner. This will be visible during the race, the start of the actives, and throughout the day. You can keep the boat side banner or you can leave it with us for safe storage and use… next year! If you would like additional advertising material on the sponsored boat, feel free to discuss this with the boat owner. This extra expense would be covered by you. Time on the water will be approximately 3 hours.

Our sponsors will be recognized at the reception on Friday evening. After the race on Saturday, there will be a dance/social and awarding of prizes at the club. We will recognize sponsors at that time as well. We will also thank our sponsors through local media. We will make our presentation to Pro Kids at that time. But whatever you do…block out SATURDAY, JUNE 18nd for the RKYC CHARITY REGATTA!
