If you think it is time to get your cabinet serviced, or have just moved the cabinet, please read this and work through this before phoning Tidy Files and Cabinets.
1 The drawers won’t come out all the way Hold drawer underneath with both hands, one on either side and pull out evenly. This results from a build-up of dust/gunge on the runners. Clean the runners with a cloth or tissue.
2 The drawers have locked up and you can’t open the cabinet Lock and unlock and try to open drawers. Check all drawers are fully closed. Some models have levers underneath near the front feet; pull these down to release drawers.
3 The one drawer is sagging and scrapes on the lower drawer Pull the drawer out and look at the runner on the side. If it appears bent, then it will need to be replaced.
4 Two drawers can be opened at once If this is the case, be very careful when using and call Tidy Files & Cabinets straight away. The anti-tilt system will need to be looked at.
5 The cabinet is not level or not tilting back The feet are adjustable, so the cabinet needs to be levelled if moved or if it has settled.
Your Tidy Files Cabinet has been built with precision to give you long service and peace of mind. However, as with any equipment in continuous use, it needs to be maintained and cared for. A regular service is a must to ensure the unit is functioning correctly.
The drawers are designed to carry a loading of up to 70kg. Overloading and leaning on drawers will cause bending of the runners. Keep your current files in the cabinet, and cull/archive the older files. Formfile’s offsite storage is the answer to your archiving.
The integrated anti-tilt system is designed to prevent simultaneous opening of two or more drawers. This is for your safety so the cabinet does not topple. Each drawer must be properly closed to allow the next to open. Once a month do a check, open one drawer halfway, then try other drawers. If a second drawer can open, call 1800 FORMFILE immediately.
The cabinet must be level, and tilting back slightly. This ensures that the drawers close easily and extend the life of the runners. The weight of the cabinet and files may settle it into the carpet. We check the levels during our service.
DOs and DON’Ts All persons using the cabinet, please note
Do not lean on the drawers – use steps to access high drawers. Do not push or hold on lower drawers to stand up. This will bend the runners and increase the possibility of them collapsing.
Do not overfill the drawers. If the containers in the drawer are bulging or you cannot access a file with one hand easily, it is too full. You will have to reshuffle or archive the files.
Load the files/weight from the middle drawer downwards until you have filled 4-5 drawers. These can be easily moved to fill the top drawer at a later stage.
Open drawers with two hands or one in the middle – open and close evenly and do not close with your knee.
Only one drawer must open at a time. Do a check when a drawer is open that another cannot open. It is very dangerous if two can open at a time, and must be reported urgently. Ring 1800 FORMFILE. This means the anti-tilt system is faulty or the drawers are too full.
The full efficiencies of the Tidy Files System are realised only when using the correct files and tabs. We do stock a vast range of files with varying capacities and strengths.
Lastly, do not move a cabinet without first consulting Tidy Files & Cabinets. The anti-tilt system can be damaged if not moved correctly.
Remember, prevention is better than cure, so if you have any concerns or questions, call us right away – 1800 FORMFILE
