Coach Teal teaches PE/Health at Mid-Carolina Middle School. Coach Teal Graduated from Chapin High School in 1964. Coach Teal played Men's Basketball and Baseball Teams at Newberry College. Coach Teal is a 1969 graduate of Newberry College. Coach Teal is also the Head 8th Grade Football Coach.

Coach Teal Coached the M-C Rebels Boys Basketball to the State Championship Game in Class AA and earned the state runner-up and his 1978 team went 22-4. Coach Teal has also been the Head Football and Baseball Coach at Mid-Carolina High School.

Coach Eargle is a Mid-Carolina High School Graduate and a former standout Boys Basketball Player at Mid-Carolina High School. Coach Eargle played for Coach Gene Teal- Former Newberry College Men's Basketball Alumni and the 8th Grade Head Boys Basketball & Head Football Coach & Mid-Carolina Middle School. Coach Eargle was a 3 year Varsity Boys Basketball Player at Mid-Carolina High School. Coach Eargle’s senior season he was named Offensive MVP.

Coach Eargle resides in Prosperity, SC with his wife Jackie, and he has two children: Jaclyn & Eric.

TOMMY BURKE 2003 AA All-State and All-Region, 2003 Region Player of the Year, and a member of the 2003 North vs South Game. Tommy is also attending Newberry College on a full basketball scholarship. Named to the 2003-2004 South Atlantic Conference All Freshmen Team.

Ludy Werts BIO

Ludy Werts is a June 2nd, 1965 Graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. Ludy served in the US NAVY from June of 1965, to June of 1969. While a part of the US Navy, Ludy served abroad on two ships, The USS Coontz DLG-9 & the USS O’Challhan DE-1051. Ludy served two tours of service in the Vietnam. Ludy was awarded, “The Navy Unit Commendation,” for bravery under fire in hostile waters, in 1966 & 1967. Ludy has worked for the Newberry Elec. Coop., for 37 years. Ludy Werts has served M-C HS Football & Basketball Program for 34 years. Ludy Werts is a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Ludy is a volunteer at the American Red Cross in Columbia, SC. Ludy is also, a member of the St. Philips Fire Dept., for 30 years. Ludy Werts received the lifetime achievement award in football from the Newberry County Touchdown Club.

Ludy has also run the scoreclock at Newberry High School, Newberry College, Lander Univ., The Colonial Center in Columbia, SC for USC, Swansea High School, and Batesburg Leesville High School. Ludy is famous at M-C HS Boys Basketball for giving CPR to two heart attack victims. One of the victims, is former head boys basketball coach, Ken Long, in 1983.

Cody continues to love the game of basketball. He is a volunteer coach for the YMCA, for his son's and daughter's teams. Cody's wife, son, and daughter all continue to support the rebels athletic programs.
