 Textbook (required): College Algebra in Context, Ronald Harshbarger & Lisa Yocco Fourth edition, Pearson Education, Inc., 2013.

 MyMathLab Access (required): Access is included with the purchase of a new text from the bookst ore. If you are not purchasing a new textbook, access can be purchased from the website: http://pe arsonmylabandmastering.com/. For those students who are comfortable using a digital textbook, y ou may choose to purchase an access code only, since an ebook is part of the website. You will no t be allowed to register until you have a student access code and the course ID. C ourse ID: gordon71745

Attendance: Students are expected to attend each class meeting. Students who leave class early or arrive late will be counted absent for that class, unless prior approval has been obtained by the instructor. Students are responsible for knowing about announcements/assignments made in class, whether or not the student is present.

Online Homework / In-class Assignments: All homework will be completed on MyMathLab. There are an unlimited number of attempts allowed on homework. Although there is a due date, you can access homew ork at any time to improve your grade.

Quizzes: All quizzes will be completed on MyMathLab. You will not be allowed to take a quiz until you ha ve received a satisfactory score on the corresponding homework. Due dates are firm and will NOT be chan ged for ANY reason. You are allowed three attempts on each quiz.

Tests: Three in-class tests will be given. It is your responsibility to make sure that you have no schedule conflicts and can take the tests at the times designated. Tests may NOT be made up. In the case of an excused absence, the student will receive a grade of 0, but at the end of the semester, I will replace the 0 with the final exam percentage. An unexcused absence will result in a 0 for that test.

Final Exam: The Final Examination is comprehensive and is worth 150 points. No student will be excused from taking the Final Examination, and only under unusual circumstances will a student be allowed to take the Final Examination at any time other than the regularly scheduled time. Failure to take the Final Examin ation will result in the grade of "F” for the course. Class Days/Time Final Exam Date/Time Saturday 7:30 Saturday December 7th, 2013 at 8:00 am

Midterm Grades: All students of MATH 1101 will be issued a midterm grade by October 2, 2012. This midter m grade will reflect approximately 30% of the entire course grade. Based on this midterm grade, a student may choose to withdraw from the course and receive a grade of W. Any student who wishes to pursue this option must withdraw no later than October 5, 2012.

Distractions: The use of pagers, radios, and cellular phones in class is PROHIBITED. Out of courtesy and re spect for everyone's learning environment, TURN THEM OFF!!!
