Ra Particulate Emissions Limits for Fuel Burning Equipment used for Heat or for Power through Indirect Heat Transfer [OAC rule 3745-17-10(B)(1)] and [OAC rule 3745-17-10(C)(1) and (2)]

Select the limit that applies for the type of fuel burned

Note: This rule, OAC 3745-17-10, also contains specific PM limits for a few named facilities which would not be subject to the limits defined below.

Ra.1 Applicable Emissions Limitations and/or Control Requirements for Gaseous fuels [OAC rule 3745-17-10(B)(1)]

The maximum allowable particulate emissions for the fuel burning equipment fired with only gaseous fuels (excluding blast furnace gas) shall be:

0.020 pound per million Btu of actual heat input

[OAC rule 3745-17-10(B)(1)]

Ra.2 Applicable Emissions Limitations and/or Control Requirements for Fuel Oil #2 [OAC rule 3745-17-10(B)(1)]

The maximum allowable particulate emissions for the fuel burning equipment fired with #2 fuel oil or blast furnace gas (or gas mix including blast furnace gas) shall be:

0.040 pound per million Btu of actual heat input

[OAC rule 3745-17-10(B)(1)]

Ra.3 Additional Terms and Conditions for the PM limit from burning Coal or other fuels [OAC rule 3745-17-10(C)(1)]

Use this term for fuel burning equipment located in the following counties that burn fuels other than natural gas or #2 fuel oil: Adams, Allen, Ashtabula, Athens, Belmont, Brown, Butler, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Columbiana, Coshocton, Cuyahoga, Darke, Defiance, Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Gallia, Geauga, Greene, Hamilton, Henry, Jackson, Jefferson, Lake, Lawrence, Licking, Lorain, Lucas, Madison, Mahoning, Medina, Meigs, Miami, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pickaway, Portage, Preble, Richland, Ross, Sandusky, Scioto, Seneca, Shelby, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Union, Warren, Washington, Wyandot, Wood.

Replace the XXXXs with the following:

XXXX1: enter the fuel type to be burned

XXXX2: enter the PM limit calculated from Figure I of the Appendix

(1.a.1) The particulate emissions for the fuel burning equipment fired with [XXXX1] shall not exceed the allowable emission rate specified by ACurve P-1" of “Figure I”, from the Appendix of OAC rule 3745-17-10, or shall not exceed [XXXX2] pounds per million Btu.

[OAC rule 3745-17-10(C)(1)]

Ra.4 Additional Terms and Conditions for the PM limit from burning Coal or other fuels [OAC rule 3745-17-10(C)(2)]

Use this term for fuel burning equipment located in the following counties that burn fuels other than natural gas or #2 fuel oil: Ashland, Auglaize, Carroll, Champaign, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Fulton, Guernsey, Hancock, Hardin, Harrison, Highland, Hocking, Holmes, Huron, Knox, Logan, Marion, Mercer, Morrow, Ottawa, Paulding, Pike, Putnam, Tuscarawas, Van Wert, Vinton, Wayne, and Williams.

Replace the XXXXs with the following:

XXXX1: enter the fuel type to be burned

XXXX2: enter the PM limit calculated from Figure I of the Appendix

(1.a.2) The particulate emissions for the fuel burning equipment fired with [XXXX1] shall not exceed the allowable emission rate specified by ACurve P-2" of “Figure I”, from the Appendix of OAC rule 3745-17-10, or shall not exceed [XXXX2] pounds per million Btu.

[OAC rule 3745-17-10(C)(2)]
