Geometry Unit 4 Scale Drawing Project

In this project, you will be redesigning a room in your house and creating scale drawings of the new room as well as the old room. Outline of Project 1. Measurements of Old Room—Choose the room you want to redesign and complete the table of measurements for the room as it currently looks in your house. DUE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9—worth 10 points for completing on time

2. New Room Requirements—Describe what you want to change about the room you chose to redesign. Include the measurements that will be needed in the new room. DUE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10—worth 10 points for completing on time

3. Scale Drawing of Old Room  Choose the scale you will use to complete your drawing  Use this scale to draw a model of the floor plan as well as each wall in the room  State the scale you are using on your drawing and label the drawing with the real-world measurements (in feet)  Label each feature in the room with a name and measurements  Color the drawing to match (as close as possible) how the room looks now. Time will be given in class on Monday-Wednesday, and this drawing needs to be complete BY THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12. 15 points possible for this drawing

4. Scale Drawing of New Room  Use the same scale as you used for the drawing of the old room to draw a model of the floor plan as well as each wall in the redesigned room  State the scale on your drawing and label the drawing with real-world measurements (in feet)  Label each feature in the room with a name and measurements  Color the drawing to show (as close as possible) how the room will look after the redesign is finished Time will be given in class on Monday-Wednesday, and this drawing needs to be complete BY THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12. 15 points possible for this drawing

5. BONUS—Projected Cost: Research the cost of the materials and items that you plan to use in your new design. Print webpages or cut items from a catalog to show what you will use and how much it will cost. Summarize your costs in a table and calculate a total projected cost for this design. Due with all drawings on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12--UP TO 10 BONUS POINTS are possible
