October 2013 - Our Journey Newsletter

Dear Friends of Our Journey,

I just returned home from my yearly trip to Kenya, the progress these Pastors have made will blow your mind...so many small businesses have been started. An older women was given a large bag of charcoal...the cost was 1,000 Kenyan Shillings, she will pay the loan back with the first 1,000 Shillings she makes in profit and that will be given back to the Pastors to start another woman in business. The same with 20 women were given a bag of beans to plant, they will return 2 bags back to the Pastors after they have been planted and harvested to be passed on to more women. Our Journey along with the Pastors is helping to break the cycle of dependency. My heart sings with joy!

Our Journey's Mission and Vision is to help these people break the cycle of dependency. Check out these pictures. In less than 6 months’ time, the Posho Mill is up and running and making a profit. The profit will help feed more orphan children and will also supply jobs. Exciting times are ahead. Hopefully, Our Journey will be able to support another Posho Mill in 2014. Visited all 3 of Our Journey Community Gardens and Chicken Projects and they are all doing GREAT!!! The gardens help supplement all the feeding programs and the women working with the Chicken Project are all making money to help feed their families.

We also visited all of the Our Journey supported projects; two dump sites, two displaced people camps, Rhonda Slums and a women’s prison where they take their babies to prison with them. Our Journey supports them with food, blankets and shoes. You cannot imagine the conditions there...raw sewage flowing everywhere...these children are living in these unbearable conditions. Thank you for helping Our Journey, Inc.supply them with blankets for the cold and shoes to keep their feet dry.

It was a blessing to have Pastor Andy Chambers join me this year. If you would like to help with these on going projects you can send a donation to:
