Federal law requires that all children and youth from birth to 21 who may have disabilities must be located and provided with appropriate educational services. All states are required to implement child find procedures to locate unserved children and to inform parents or guardians of available programs.
Do you know a child who may be in need of Special Education Services?
For Ages 3 through 21 Children with disabilities who are enrolled in the Haddonfield school district are entitled to appropriate educational services provided at no cost to the child or family. The disability might be in vision, hearing, behavior, physical, learning, health mental ability, autism, or any combination of these areas. If you know of a child in Haddonfield between the ages of three and twenty with a disability and in need of services, please call the Director of Special Education at the Haddonfield Child Study Team Office (856) 429-4985 x148.
Children with disabilities in the Haddonfield school district who are enrolled in a private school or a home schooling program are entitled to certain services, as well. If you are the parent of such a child, please call, as indicated above, for information about those rights.
For Ages Birth up to Age 3
The Department of Health is the lead agency responsible for New Jersey's statewide system of services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families Services are available to children, birth to 3, in every New Jersey County. The county-based Special Child Health Services' Case Management Units are the single points of entry into the early intervention system. With family consent, anyone may call to make a referral. The case management unit will assign a service coordinator to work with the family. The service coordinator will arrange evaluation for eligibility at no cost to the family.
