Student Part-Time Job Fair Tuesday, August 16, 2016 UC Mainstreet 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. This event is held once a year! Students have the opportunity to network with employers and on campus departments who offer part-time jobs.

Professionalism 101 Workshop Thursday, September 1, 2016 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. –UC 327 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.-UC 327 Professionalism in the workplace is one of the many competencies that employers say students need to improve upon. This workshop will focus on information related to effective communication skills, enhancing your self-image, developing a business-savvy wardrobe, appropriate work ethic and how improving these competencies will greatly enhance your ability to receive and maintain internships and jobs.

Internship Week Monday - Friday, September 12 – 16 Internships play an integral role in helping students land their first full-time career after graduation. This week is designed to educate students on the importance of completing internships during their college years. During the week students will have the opportunity to learn how to obtain an internship, how to dress for an internship, have their resume reviewed and network with employers. Each event you attend you will have the chance to enter into a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card. Internship Week Kick-Off Monday, September 12th Meet us on Mainstreet as we kick off Internship Week with games and prizes! 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Drawing for a $10 Visa gift card UC Mainstreet Internship Job Search Strategies Workshop Tuesday, September 13th RSVP through Laker CareerZone required 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.- UC 322 This workshop educates students about the advantages that internships provide in a 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.- UC 327 career search. Topics covered include: credit and non-credit internship eligibility, how and when to begin your search, and forms that need to be completed. Drawing for a $20 Visa gift card Intern Mix Tuesday, September 13th Come network with your CSU peers and employers to discuss the internship experience. 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. Wednesday, September 14th Stop by our office and have your résumé critiqued by one of our staff members. 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This is encouraged in preparation for the Internship Fair. Career Services, EH 228 Best Dressed Intern Contest Wednesday, September 14th Stop by our office in your professional attire and have your picture taken. Drawing for a 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. $30 Visa gift card Career Services, EH 228 Internship Non-Profit Job Fair Thursday, September 15th This event is held once a year! Students have the opportunity to network with employers 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and on campus departments who offer internships. Students seeking credit or non-credit UC Mainstreet internships from all majors are encouraged to attend.

Practice Interview Day Thursday, September 22, 2016 Career Services Office Edgewater Hall, Suite 228 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (by appointment) Students gain valuable experience by having a practice interview with an employer. The employer conducts a realistic practice interview and then provides feedback about the student’s interviewing skills. Students must schedule practice interview times in advance. Limited appointment times are available. Call or stop by the Office of Career Services to schedule your appointment by Friday, September 16.

Career Boot Camp Monday - Thursday, October 3 – 6 This four-day series covers workshops on resume-development, interviewing, conducting a job search, and making the most of a job fair. Students must pre-register for Career Boot Camp and will receive a certificate and a gift for successful completion. Each topic will be

Job Search and Social Media Workshop Thursday, October 13, 2016 UC 327 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Professional networks matter! 95% of employers search for candidates on social media. One of the most essential skills for a job seeker is understanding social media for professional use. Students will learn how to create a strong, professional social media presence, search for jobs and expand network connections using social media. Students must RSVP through LakerCareer Zone to attend this session.

Senior Career Academy Monday -Thursday, October 17 - 20 Edgewater Hall 234 and Career Services Office 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The Senior Career Academy is a week-long program designed to help graduating seniors focus their career searches and develop skills needed for career success. Seniors receive individualized assistance and have opportunities to network with a select group of employers. Limited number of spaces available. Students must contact Career Services to reserve a space.

Networking and Personal Branding Workshop Tuesday, November 1, 2016 UC 327 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Networking is the process of developing professional relationships in industries and organizations of interest to you. It is the “human aspect” of the job search that helps to connect job seekers with the numerous positions that are never advertised. During this session, students will learn about networking and will have a chance to practice their networking skills. Students must RSVP through LakerCareer Zone to attend this session.

Business Etiquette Luncheon Thursday, November 3, 2016 Student Activities Center Ballroom C 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Purchase tickets from Career Services no later than Friday, October 28, 2016 (Limited number of tickets available) The Business Etiquette Luncheon provides students an opportunity to learn about effective networking and appropriate dining etiquette for a variety of professional situations. Participants eat a multi-course meal while the leader guides them through the etiquette of using tableware, managing different courses, and responding professionally during business dining.

Career Opportunities Job Fair Wednesday, November 9, 2016 Cobb Galleria Centre 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Career Opportunities is a statewide job fair for students and graduates from more than 20 small colleges and universities. Employers who might not visit each of the campuses will gather for this opportunity to network with hundreds of students from across the state. Students and graduates can learn about opportunities, network with employers, and make the personal contact that might lead to an interview or employment.
