Commencement Ceremony Eligibility Policy

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY ELIGIBILITY POLICY

2017-2018

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

Students must have successfully completed or be in satisfactory standing (a grade of 50% or better) in sufficient courses to satisfy the Ministry of Education graduation requirements by April 27, 2018. This includes having completed your Grad Transitions Package (due January 19, 2018).

A percentage of less than 50% in a course needed to meet graduation requirements will be deemed to be unsatisfactory standing.

Correspondence courses which contribute to graduation requirements must be 50% completed by April 27, 2018.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Students must sell two boxes of chocolates and participate in one volunteer activity. Deadline for completion is April 27, 2018. Otherwise, there is a fee to participate, which will be about $200.00.

A suspension from school that coincides with the commencement weekend will result in ineligibility to participate.

Students who are eligible may choose not to walk up. This must be communicated in writing with a parent’s signature to the Counseling Office no later than April 27, 2018. Once taken off the list, students will not be reinstated.

Students may not have any outstanding textbooks, library books, commencement fund-raising fees or credits, vandalism, or other fees. No seats will be available until these are paid. Students are currently guaranteed no more than 2 seats.

Requests for extra tickets will be accepted beginning on April 27, 2018. There will be a form to complete and return to Ms. Rourke in the office. As well as having completed the tasks listed above, your attendance and punctuality (lates) will be a factor in determining your placement on the request list order.

Students will attend 2 rehearsals prior to the ceremony. Work schedules/shifts should be planned or discussed with employers well in advance.

Please keep this page for your records.

Please sign the following page and return to the main office. IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT THESE REQUIRMENTS ARE MET. STUDENTS SHOULD BE FULLY CONVERSANT WITH GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS AS WELL AS THEIR CURRENT STATUS AT ALL TIMES.
