Your Child Would Like to Participate in Our Viking Gazette School Newspaper

September 6, 2012

Dear Families,

Your child would like to participate in our Viking Gazette school newspaper.

We will meet on Thursdays right after school until 3:30. During this time, the students will be interviewing Joy School Staff, writing and typing up interviews or articles, and setting up the design for our upcoming newspaper.

Joining the Viking Gazette Staff means that the members need to be responsible for completing their newspaper assignments accurately and on time. I expect Viking Gazette members to attend each meeting to make sure we stay on schedule. If for some reason a student is sick or has an appointment or event to attend on the afternoon of a meeting, please let me know. I totally understand that different conflicts come up. My phone number at Joy is 873-2090 Ext. 6335. My email is [email protected].

If a Viking Gazette member has three unexcused absences from meetings or has three unfinished newspaper assignments, that student will no longer be able to participate.

Students are also responsible for making sure they have a ride to go home when we finish our meeting at 3:30. Please let me know if your child goes to Safe Harbor so I know they have supervision after we dismiss.

Please sign the attached slip and have your child return it to me so I know you have read this letter and give permission for your child to participate in the Viking Gazette.

I look forward to working with your child! I think it will be a fun learning experience!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Knouse The Viking Gazette Newspaper Club Sponsor
