EDWARD CELICHOWSKI Born 3 Oct 1900; d] 27 Jul 1984, age 83 of 1007 S Lombardy, died at 6:48 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital. He reitred in 1968 from Packaging Corp of America in the maintenance dept. Graveside services in Highland Cem. Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory; no visitation. On 19 Aug 1930 in So. Bend he married Mary Przestwor [aka Prestwor], who survives along with two sisters, Mrs Blanche Robakowski and Mrs Lottie Strozewski.

MARY CELICHOWSKI - NEE PRZESTWOR; W/O EDWARD Born 19 Aug 1905; d] 12 Aug 1984, age 78 of 1007 S Lombardy in her home. Cremation was at Michiana Crematory, burial Highland Cemetery. No visitation. One brother, Wm [Hopper] Przestwor died 19 Nov 1981. Survived by a great nephew, Michael D Przestwor of Mishawaka IN. ------

PATRICIA L DENAWAY CELICHOWSKI Born 6 Mar 1960 Niles MI; d] 30 May 1995, age 35 of S Wellington, at 2:10 p.m. in her home after an illness. She lived in So Bend most of her life. Cremation will follow; services at Kaniewski Funeral Home. On 12 Aug 1989 as Patricia L Denaway, she married Chris D Celichowski who survives with two sons, Rocky Beau Richards of Denver Co and Adam Dale Celichowski of So Bend, two sisters, Mrs Jan Davis of So Bend and Pam Scoggins of Mishawaka and two brothers, James Denaway of Bloomington IN and Gary Dunaway of Mishawaka. ------

THEODORE J CELICHOWSKI Born 4 Oct 1909; d] 2 Jul 1996, age 86 of S Lombardy Dr, at 2:05 p.m. at St Joseph's Medical Center. He retired from the Bendix Corp in 1975 as an engineer. Serives at Holy Family Cath Ch, burial in St Joseph Cemetery. On 11 Jan 1941 he married Mary H Rajewski who preceded him in death on 27 Feb 1978. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Cynthia Rohner of Wichita Kan, a son, Michael Celichowski of SBd, two grandsons Gregory Rohner and Nicholas Rohner both of Wichita Kans. ------BLAZY CELMER Born 14 Aug 1919; d] 4 Aug 1979 from a self inflicked gunshot wound. Buried in St Joseph Cemetery. On 3 Jun 1944 mar Helen Sochocki who survives with two sons, David of North Liberty and Gregory.

HELEN CELMER - NEE SOCHOCKI Born 19 Aug 1926; died 14 Jun 1995, age 68 of S Kosciuszko St at 12:15 a.m. at St Joseph's Care Center West. Services at St Adalbert's Catholic Church; burial at St Joseph Cem. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs Evelyn Celmer & Mrs Florence Kujawski; and three brothers, Casimir and Frank of South Bend and Walter Sochocki of Colorado Springs Co. ------

JOSEPHINE CELMER - MRS GEORGE GOTOWKA Born 6 Mar 1908; died 7 Aug 1980, age 72 of 820 S Lombardy after a brief illness. Formerly employed at Torrington. Services at St Patrick's Cath Church, burial at St Joseph Cem. On 30 May 1928 she married George Gotowka who passed away 1 May 1955. Survivng are two daughters, Mrs. Esther Homelewski and Mrs Lorraine Wilson; and a grandson. ------

VALENTINE J [BILL] CELMER Born 27 Dec 1909 in So Bend; died 1 Feb 1980, age 70 of 25130 Edison; was found dead in his car about 6:30 p.m. Fri. at Allied Stamping Products, 601 W Broadway, where he apparently collapsed from a heart attack after leaving work. He was retired from Allied but was working part time as a consultant. He had also worked for the Studebaker Co for several years. Services at St Stanislaus Cath Ch, burial at St Joseph Cem. On 2 Jun 1934 he married Evelyn Sochocki, who survives along with a daughter, Mrs Rose marie Burkhart, a son, Timothy D, 6 grandchildren; three great randch8ildrenh, three sisters, Mrs Josephine Gotowka, Mrs Helen Cybulski, and Mrs Gertrude Woloszyn, and a brother, Roman of St Joseph MI. ------

JOSEPH F CENCELEWSKI Born 8 Apr 1917; died 27 Feb 1986 age 68, of 1343 Canterbury Drive; died in Bullhead City Nv. while on vacation. He retired in 1983 from AM General Corp where he was employed for 290 years. Services at St John the Baptist Cath Church, burial in St Joseph Cem. Veteran of WW II in the Marines. On 22 Feb 1941 he married Alfreda Bonczynski who died on 3 Jan 1983. He is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs Dalene Lisek of So Bend, Mrs Sharon Rozewicz of Louisville TX and Mrs Patty Basinski of SBd; two sons, Ronald of SBd and Robert of Kingman AZ; ten granchildren, a sister Mrs Alfreda Banicki and 2 brothers, Frederick & Richard, all of South Bend. ------JAMES CENKUSH Born 3 Jan 1926; died 7 Apr 1995, James "Otto" Cenkush, age 69 of Diamond Ave, died at 8:30 p.m. Fri. in Michiana Community Hosp of natural causes. He had worked for Drwerys for 26 yrs and retired from Kreamo Bakery after 10 yrs in maintenance. Services at Welsheimer Funeral Home North, burial at Highland Cem. He was a Korean War Veteran. On 22 Nov 1952 he married Joan Yankee who survives with two daughters, Mrs Beckey Smyers of Mishawaka and Mrs. Cindy Shafer of North Liberty, two sons, James R of Valparaiso and Rold R of SBd; 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 4 sisters, Mrs Betty Niedbala of Edwardsburg, Mrs Jean Bauert of Mishawaka, Mrs. Ann Dukai and Mrs. Dorothy Rynearson, both of SBd, and a brother, John of Mishawaka. ------

EMILY J CHELMINIAK; NEE BEDNAR - w/o Walter J Born 14 Jan 1902 in Czechoslovakia; lived in SBd area most of her life; died 30 Oct 1984, age 82 of 416 S Brookfield; in her home. She retired from Robertson's Dept store as a clerk. Services at St Hedwig's Cath Ch, burial at St Joseph Cem. On 29 Jun 1921 as Emily Bednar she married Walter who died 6 Jul 1977. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Cecile Schwartz of Norden CA, a son, Joseph of SBd, 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister Mrs marie Aftowski of SBd, and 2 brtohers, Frank Bednar of Camarillo CA and John Bednar of SBd. ------

HELEN CHELMINIAK - NEE ZMUDZINSKI - W/O LEO b] 16 Apr 1894; died 9 Nov 1986 age 92 at 12:30 p.m. in Alderwood Manor Nursing HOme in Spokane Washington. She had lived there for the last 9 yrs. On 20 May 1920 she married Leo , who died in 1977 of 1116 W Jefferson. St Joseph Funeral HOme is in charge of arrangements. Surviving are a daughter Mrs Claudine Krebsbach of Spokane Washington and Richard Chelminiak. ------

LEO J CHELMINIAK Born 1 Apr 1895, died 17 Apr 1980 age 85 of 1022 N College, at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at the Fountainview Place Nursing Home. He had been ill for 5 months. He was the former secretary & Treas. of Kosciuszko Bldg & Loan; Credit Manager for Edwards Iron Works for 30 years. Veteran of WW I, US Navy. Services at St Stanislaus Cath Ch, burial at St Joseph Cem. On 30 Sept 1919 he married Theresa D Urbanski. Survivors are 3 daughters, Mrs Gertrude M McKiel of Aurora IL, Sister Helen Marier CR of Chicago, Mrs Angie CLaxton of Niles MI and three sons; Clement J of Seattle Washington, John H of Mishawaka and Ted S of So Bend. ------

RICHARD CHELMINIAK - AKA HELMINIAK Son of Leo Chelminiak and Helen Zmudzinski of 1116 W Jefferson; died 20 Jan 1944 -- killed in action WW II, lost at sea; Pilot in US Air Corp. ------STANLEY J CHELMINIAK Born 25 Apr 1886; died May 1954, age 68 of Brickhead Place, Toledo Ohio after a long illness.Former resident and fist cashier of the once Polish Peoples State Bank is So Bend. Lived in Toledo for the past 15 years. Burial at St Joseph Cem. On 18 Jun 1907 married Wladyslawa Manuszak who died 27 Jan 1916. Survived by his wife Frances, s son Stanley J, 2 daughters Mrs Mary Czubek and Tekla [Tillie] both of Toledo and a brother, Valarean. ------

STELLA V CHELMINIAK; NEE WALKOWSKI - w/o Stanley Born 10 Mar 1908; died 29 Jul 1996, age 88 of mericana Nursing Facility in Elkhart, formerly of 1349 N Wilbur St in SBd. She died in the nursing facility of natural causes. She was formerly employed as a sales clerk with Spiro's Dept store & also volunteered at the St Jos Medical Center Gift Shop. Member of Holy Cross Catholic Church; graveside service at St Joseph Cemetery. On 11 Feb 1929 as Stella Walkowski she married Stanley wo died 27 Oct 1974. Her son Stanley J Chlminiak precedede her in death on 7 Jan 1978, She is survived by 5 grandchildren: Steven Chelminiak of Maui Hawaii, Stacy Chelminiak & Mrs Janet [Chelminiak], Podell both of SBd, Mrs Sue Edington of Wauwatosa Wisc, Mrs Sandra Seanor of Osceola. Seven great grandchildren: Thomas & Christopher Podell, Laura, Jasmine & Gabriella Podell; Samuel Edington, Abigail Edington; a sister, Mrs Jennie Swiental of SBd and her daughter in law, Jean Chelminiak Hall of SBd. ------

THERESA CHELMINIAK - NEE URBANSKI - w/o Leo J Born 1896; died 22 Feb 1973, buried St Joseph Cem. Her family: Thaddeus Sr, Mrs Lillian Prawat of Mishawaka, Edmund of Granger, Mrs Mary Buczynski, Sister Mary Edras, Stefan Urbanski of Indiana-polis, Klemens Urbanski and Mrs Blanche Otolski. ------

WLADYSLAWA CHELMINIAK - NEE KUCHARSKI - W/O ADALBERT Born 1867 Poland; died 20 Jul 1954 in Gary IN, age 81. Buried at Cedar Grove Cem.. On 16 Nov 1885 she married Albert who died 1 Apr 1942. Surviving are two sons, Matthew T and Leo ; 2 brothers, Stanislaus & Leon M Kucharski and a sister, Mrs Veronica Wiatrolek. ------

SOPHIE H CHERPES - NEE NOWICKI; w/o Joseph Born 7 May 1905; died 17 May 1980, age 75 of 1718 W Indiana, died at 5 p.m. Sat. in St Joseph's Hospital after a lengthy illness. She retired Gerber Mfg Co in Mishawaka. Services at St Casimir Catholic Church, burial Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum in St Joseph Cem. On 9 Sept 1924 she married Joseph P Cherpes who died 6 Sept 1977. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Betty Jane Gerad of olingbrook Ill; 2 grand- children; 3 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs Josephine Vaga, Mrs Blanche Odor and Mrs Janelimek, all of SoBend and a brother, Edward Nowicki of SBd also. ------

JOSEPH CHERRONE Born 19 Mar 1877 Italy; died 27 Dec 1937, age 60 of 2114 S Lafayetter. Arrived here 24 years ago from Pennsylvania; died at 10:15 p.m. having been ill for 2 yrs. Services at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, burial at Southlawn Cem. In 1909 in Pennsylvania he married Frances Veri. Children are Mrs A E Fritz of Milwaukee, Mrs D S Bird, Mary & Doris, Peter Cherrone, Wedo, Tony, Dominic and Fred. One sister, in Canada and a brother in Italy. ------

JOSEPH L CHERRY [N CHGED FROM WISNIEWSKI] Born 11 Nov 1944; d] 29 Jun 1994, age 49 of South Monticello Court, died in 4:30 a.m. in his home after an illness. He was a field operations mgr for Nissan. Services in St Matthew Cathedral. Cremation will take place. On 11 Nov 1967 he married Norma Hilborn, who survives with a daughter Joei L Cherry at home, a son Brian D at home and his mother Mrs Nellie Wisniewski; two sisters, Mrs JoAnn Sikorski and Mrs Jean Gruza; two brothers, Fred Cherry and Art Wisniewski of Niles MI. He was a Veteran of US Navy; ------

ALLENE MAE PETERSON CHLEBOWSKI - w/o Stanley B Jr Born 11 Apr 1922 Union Mills; moved to LaPorte 52 years ago; d] 30 Jul 1994 age 72 of 301 State Rd; died at 5:35 p.m. in the LaPorte Hospital. Services at St Joseph Catholic Church; burial at Pine LakeCemetery. On 28 Mar 1942 married Stanley Chlebowski Jr who died 26 Nov 1989. Surviving children: Terry Peterson, Mrs Beverly Jean Logan, Betty Ann Peterson, all of LaPorte, Mrs Sharon Kay Nell of Smyrne Tenn, David & Stanley B III of LaPorte also; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One brother, Aaron Peterson of Union Mills. A son, Thomas and 2 grandchildren preceded her in death. ------

AMELIA 'NELLIE' CHLEBOWSKI - NEE HANYZEWSKI; w/o Maciej Born 13 Feb 1893; died 8 Jan 1964. "Nellie", age 70 of 628 Western Ave, died at 1:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter Mrs Irene Nowacki, 1032 1/2 Western Av after a brief illness. Services at St Hedwig Cath Church, burial at St Joseph Cem. On 25 Oct 1911 married Maciej Chlebowski who died 16 Nov 1936. Surviving are her dau Mrs Nowacki [now living in Los Angeles, Norbert of SBd, Richard of Port Orange Florida, Arthur of Edwardsburg MI and Mrs Geraldine Szymanski of Marcellus MI; three brothers, Albin, Casimir & Sylvester Hanyzewski, two sisters, Mrs Helen Kielton and Mrs Leokadya Krzyzaniak. ------

IRENE CHLEBOWSKI - MRS CASIMIR J NOWACKI On 6 May 1934 married Casimir J Nowacki who was born 1 Mar 1916; died 16 Jan 1995 in Los Angeles CA, age 82 at Garden Crest Convalescent Hosp., LA. Retired 1963 as owner of Ideal Press; moved to LA in 1963. Cremated. Suvivors are wife Irene, Darlene M and David T NEWMAN all of Los Angeles.

NORBERT M CHLEBOWSKI Born 4 Jun 1914; d] 22 Oct 1982 of 28877 Harrison Rd. Services at St Adalbert's Cath Church; burial at St Joseph Cem. On 13 Jun 1936 he married Alice Smiegielski who died 29 Mar 1970 in St Joseph Cem. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Nancy Finemore of Mishawaka, Mrs Patricia Moreno, two sons Eugene and Dale Chlebowski. ------

VINCENT CHLEBOWSKI Born 21 Sept 1897 Poland; moved to Chicago in 1956; died Mar 1965, age 87; formerly of 1205 W Washington. Died in Chicago after a short illness. Serivices at St Hedwig Cath Church; buried in St Joseph Cem. His wife Louise died in 1944. Surviving are two sons, Edward and Raymond; two daugh-ters, Mrs Evelyn Niezgodski of Chicago, Mrs Rose Paczesny of San Francisco CA, a sister Mrs Lucy Wojtalowicz.

LOUISE CHLEBOWSKI - NEE WOJTALEWICZ - w/o Vincent Born 6 Nov 1885; died 2 Aug 1944 age 58 of 1207 W Washington after a long illness. Services at St Hedwig Catholic Church; burial at St Joseph Cemetery. Survivors are her husband and children [listed in above obit]; three sisters, Mrs Pearl Chlebowski, Angela D Wojtalewicz and Mrs Veronica Kololinski; two brothers; Peter and Felix Wojtalewicz, both of Chicago. ------

Retired pharmacist who previously owned Western Ave Pharmacy for 30 years. Veteran of WW I and lifetime member of Buckeye Div Co "M", 145th Inf of Ohio. Came here 46 years ago. Graduated from Valparaiso University in 1925. Services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, burial at St Joseph Cem. On 16 Aug 1927 married Clementine Latowski who survives, two sisters, Mrs Mary Pecynski of Buffalo NY and Mrs Jessie Swinsick of Morris Run PA; four brothers; Walter, Max & Aloysius all of Morris Run PA & Benjamin of Blossburg PA. ------

Services at St Casimir Catholic Church, burial at St Joseph Cem. Children: Stephen, Michael, Theodore, Twlter, Edwin & Sophia Grontkowski, Mrs Bertha Zyto, Mrs Theresa Szmanda, Mrs Victoria Przybysz. ------
