Re: iPod AAS Switch is now available

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the iPod AAS (Automatic Audio Selector) Switch harness as a Dealer Installed Accessory for MY06 M-class, R-class & MY07 GL.

The AAS Switch enables the installation of the iPod Integration Kit into vehicles equipped with the Factory Rear Seat Entertainment (opt. code 864). When the AAS Switch is installed on vehicles without Factory RSE the iPod Integration Kit can be installed without losing functionality of the AUX jack from the vehicle glovebox (if equipped).

With the AAS Switch installed, the iPod is the primary audio source when the iPod is connected to the iPod dock connector, and the iPod Integration Kit functions normally. When the iPod is not connected to the iPod dock connector the secondary audio source is selected. The secondary audio source refers to Factory RSE on vehicles so equipped. Otherwise the AUX jack in the glovebox is the secondary audio source.

Please be advised that the AAS Switch does not add an AUX jack to the vehicle if it is equipped with Factory RSE, but will allow you to add the iPod Integration Kit to these vehicles.

The AAS Switch is an optional, additional part of the iPod Integration Kit, and the standard iPod Integration Kit will need to be ordered and installed together with the AAS Switch in order to function. The AAS Switch harness directly replaces the power harness included in the iPod Integration Kit, and the power harness from the iPod Integration Kit is not used for this installation.

Part Description Part Number DNET MSRP iPod Integration Kit B6 782 4219 $214.89 $299.99 iPod AAS Switch harness B6 782 4228 $48 $68

Installation time is estimated at 1.5 hour by an experienced installer depending on additional fitted options. On vehicles equipped with an AUX jack in the glovebox an additional 19mm hole will need to be drilled in the left of the glovebox to allow the addition of the iPod dock connector cable.

Please refer to the Accessories Database available through Netstar for additional product and compatibility information.
