An honorarium of $75-$150 per Sunday for a guest preacher is recommended. It is appropriate to cover transportation as well. As of 1/1/2017, the federal guideline is 53.5 cents/mile for business travel and 14 cents/mile if driven in service of charitable organizations. At the very least we would ask the church to cover the cost of gas.
