- 1 - OVERVIEW: The eOTD translator application uses the EGAS file of the eOTD to expand EGAI encoded information. A request for conversion can include the EGAI Title, Definition or both. The EGAS file will exist in multiple languages and the request for conversion may specify the desired language to be used for the results.

The eOTD translator application requires an input file and an output destination; the default response is English Title. Applications may use different methods for uploading the file to be translated (input) and returning the translated file (output). The eOTD.org site will provide a user interface where the translation type (Title, Definition or both) and the language are specified. The eOTD.org server will accept a file upload and will process and return the output file to a specified e-mail address as well as provide an ftp output option.

The eOTD translator is a one-screen web page. It does translation in 3 different ways.

1) Translates a Block of Text: In the case of translation of small amounts of text, the user can paste the text to be translated in the text box provided. The text box provided accepts only a limited number of characters. The various options are chosen and then the TRANSLATE button is clicked. The translated text is shown in another new browser page in its XML form.

2) Translates an online XML file: This translation is used to translate an EGAI coded file which is online into either a EGAI + Title or EGAI + Title +Definition coded file by using the options. The output here again is shown in another new browser page. 0c4a5e4b9bf6576c364bbaf0d7ae4145.doc Created……………11/6/02 Copyright © 2002 by ECCMA

- 3 - 3) Translates an offline XML file: This type of translation is done for EGAI coded files which lie on the local machine. In this case, the translation is done after the file is uploaded to the server with a specified destination path. The destination path can either be an email address or an FTP address. The translated file is either sent as an attachment to the specified email address or if an FTP address was provided, the file is transferred to that address.

The language option in the translator lets the user change the language set to be used for the eOTD file. The translator can translate the EGAI coded file into the EGAI + Title or EGAI + Definition or EGAI + Title + Definition coded files.

In the third method of translation, the File Destination has to be specified in the form of a valid email address or an FTP site address depending on the option chosen. This is compulsory, as the upload of the files to be translated wont take place if this is not specified.

After the options are chosen the UPLOAD button is clicked to upload these files to the eOTD server with the destination address where these files are processed and the output files are then moved to the specific destination by the eOTD server.
