Your College Induction Day is on Friday 30th June 2017
The Induction day is part of the transition from leaving school to starting at college and represents an important part of your college year. The Induction Day is designed to:
Allow you to sample most of the courses offered at Level 2. Meet some of the staff who will be teaching on your course. Give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the college site. Inform you of the arrangements for the beginning of term.
Please arrive for a 9.00am start and go straight to the IT Suite in the main building. This will be your tutor base for the day. There will be staff or Student Crew in reception to help you find your way. Your tutor for the day is Melanie Allen.
Arrangements for the day:
The day starts at 9.00 am and finishes at approximately 3.15 pm. Please check travel and other arrangements and ensure that you allow time to find your room ready for a prompt start at 9.00 am. You do not have to wear school uniform. Drinks, cold sandwiches and hot food will be available to purchase in the Courtyard but, if you prefer, you can bring your own food.
Travel information
A timetable and ticket is included for those planning to use the College bus services which are operated by Powell’s Bus Company. You can catch the bus at the timed stops or at any other bus stop en-route between these points. All routes are available on our website www.thomroth.ac.uk or for more information contact Student Services on 300600. Please note you must indicate clearly that you would like the bus to stop for you. Return journeys will be at 3.40 pm from Moorgate Road on Induction day.
16 – 18 Student Travel Pass Powell’s Bus Services Ticket
The 16 – 18 travel pass is free and allows students up to the age of 18 to travel for 80 pence per journey on buses and trams and half fare on Northern Rail train services. To apply for this pass you must first create a MyTSYaccount. Go to MyTSY.TravelsouthYorkshire.com and follow the instructions to set up your account. You can make your application from 1st July 2017 and your pass will be sent directly to your home address. The pass will be valid immediately and can be used throughout the summer.
You should be aware that your personal effects are not covered by college insurance at any time; this includes trips and visits throughout the year. You are advised to arrange this separately, or check the cover provided by your home insurance.
We really hope that you enjoy the Induction Day and use it to your best advantage. Each student who completes the Induction will automatically be entered into a draw to win £50 in Meadowhall shopping vouchers.
