In education, the chapter purposefully built sessions into the annual meeting while simultaneous expanding the reach of the annual meeting to new members. In addition, the VCACC created and hosted a very successful stand-alone CCA meeting that was planned by CCAs, for CCAs.

On the advocacy front, the chapter has identified a way to bring patients into the advocacy debate through an expanded website, supported legislation on the state and federal level and also supported campaigns through fundraising and personal outreach for physician friendly candidates.

Most importantly, VCACC has not let the enthusiasm or organization from the D2B campaign waine but has built a new campaign aimed to further patient care. The chapter has taken a significant leadership role to establish regionalized systems of care throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia in order to improve access and reduce the time to reperfusion for STEMI patients by starting the Virginia Heart Attack Coalition (VHAC). VHAC is a significant project that will have lasting impact on patients in the Commonwealth. (see attached letter)

The Virginia Chapter deserves the highest recognition for its efforts because not one mission area was left untouched by new programming, new ideas and new volunteers contributing their expertise and enthusiasm.
