Q Are you currently hiring substitute Paraeducators? A Wichita Public Schools will be accepting applications starting in June 2016 and will continue through February 2017.

Q How often could I expect to work? A That depends on your ability to work in a variety of classroom settings as well as the number of schools you choose to work at. If you are flexible with the types of assignments and number of schools you’re willing to work at, you potentially could work most days schools are in session. Substitute Paraeducators are required to work at least 15 assignments per semester in order to remain on the sub list . Q Can I work in regular education classrooms only? A Due to our high need in special needs classrooms we do not generally place substitute Paraeducators in regular education classrooms

Q How are substitute Paraeducators assigned? A Wichita Public Schools uses the on-line and automated AESOP System for assigning subs. You will be asked to complete a profile letting us know what schools, grade levels, and types of classes you want to teach. We enter this information into the AESOP System and it matches your information to incoming assignments.

Q How much are substitute Paraeducators paid? A Substitute Paraeducators are paid $13.00 per hour and usually work 6-7 hour days.

Q How often are substitute Paraeducators paid? A They are paid bi-weekly. Pay days are every other Friday

Q How long will my application stay on file: A One year

Q Do I need to complete another application to be considered for a contracted position? A No, applicants can continually modify their application choosing the positions they are applying for. The application will automatically take the applicant to all of the pertinent questions pertaining to each of the positions they are applying for.
