POSITION DESCRIPTION: BOOKSTORE CLERK/RECEPTIONIST BURLINGAME CAMPUS

I. POLICY

1.00 GENERAL STATEMENTS

1.01 POSITION SCOPE

a. The Bookstore Clerk/Receptionist will be responsible for the inventory and sale of purchased textbooks and the checkout and distribution of rental textbooks. The Bookstore Clerk/Receptionist will be responsible for greeting the public, assisting students, faculty and staff, and managing telephone calls.

b. The scope of the position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds. The position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.

c. The Bookstore Clerk/Receptionist will participate in the formation of general college policies as a member of Standing Institutional Committees or through appointment to a task force or consultant group by the President.

2.00 SPECIFIC STATEMENTS

2.01 Position Function and Category

a. Reporting relationship: Reports to the Dean for the Burlingame Campus b. Function/Category of Position: Administrative-Management and Supervisory/Support Staff c. Terms of Employment: Hourly Position, 12 month d. Salary Category: II

2.02 Supervision

a. Supervision Received: The Bookstore Clerk/Receptionist reports to the Dean for the Burlingame Campus.

b. Supervision Exercised: The Bookstore Clerk/Receptionist may supervise student work-study students and others as assigned. II-C-6.23

2.3 Key Areas of Responsibility

a) Operate the bookstore point of sale software to sell textbooks to students.

b) Count and maintain inventory of purchase and rental textbooks.

c) Perform rental textbook check in and checkout functions.

d) Conduct follow up measures to ensure return of rental textbooks.

e) Package and mail textbooks to students upon request.

f) Manage textbook processes for the CEP program.

g) Answer the telephone, assist callers, and transfer calls as appropriate.

h) Greet the public and assist students, faculty, and staff in a positive and professional manner.

i) Assist with receiving student tuition and fee payment.

j) Perform standard clerical duties.

k) Cross train with staff to develop a working knowledge of their duties and responsibilities and assist as needed.

l) Assist with input of admissions and enrollment forms.

m) Other duties as assigned by Dean for the Burlingame Campus.
