In attendance: Heather Craven, Joan Nelson, Kim Selvey, Janie Cannon, Janie Mercer, Karen Austin, Pete Johnson, Bruce Tetlow, Erin Jacoby, Cheryl Spain, Tiffany Ferreira, Efa Davis.

Call Meeting to Order the February meeting of the Bon Air PTA will please come to order. The time is 7:05 p.m.

Executive Committee Reports  Secretary – Tiffany Ferreira o Action Item – Approve January minutes. Joan Nelson moves to approve. Kim Selvey Seconds. All in Favor, None Opposed.  Treasurer – Erin Jacoby o Checking account balance . Balance at previous board meeting 24,069.95 . Receipts 18,667.28 . Disbursements 2,333.08 . Balance at current board meeting 40,951.19

 1st Vice President – Joan Nelson  2nd Vice President - Kim Selvey  Principal o Moms and Muffins was a success. o This week we have Theatre IV visiting for Arthur Ashe presentation. o The Superintendent has released the budget - LINK HERE - for review. Among other important details to note: includes a plan to reduce class size, advocates for a nurse in every school over a 3-year plan, increases teacher salaries by 3%. o School Start Times are an ongoing conversation with the current School Board. Find background information, here: http://mychesterfieldschools.com/blog/wellness-sleep-and-school-starting-times/ o Talent Show tomorrow night. o Next Town Hall Meeting February 24.  Assistant Principal o Attended a professional development training on Cooperative Learning Strategies with 3 other staff members. o School wide initiative to increase vocabulary sight words.  President o Thank you letters are in the PTA Mailbox from teachers who attended the training.

Administration Committee Reports  Teacher Representatives, Mrs Cannon & Mrs Messer  7 Habits, Heidi Thompson o Moving forward with the plan to send info about the habits to parents in Friday folders.  Council & District Delegate – Chuck Gates o No updates.  Diversity – Val Rienford & Chris Macri o Val will be doing disability activities with the 2nd graders during the last week of February. Bon Air United Methodist Church has agreed to help w the pre-K summer school scholarships. So that makes it St. Edwards, Stony Point, and United Methodist – each contributing $300 each, to support to 15 summer school scholarships with a $60/$60/$60 split between the families/PTA/Churches. Chris & Val are still looking for somebody to take over Diversity Chair next year. Chris is still going to be running the Bright Spots group, Val will continue with disability activities for 2nd graders, and both plan to maintain the summer mobile book share. But they really need somebody to take over lead coordinator w the PTA – to deal with budget issues, buses, managing the summer school scholarship effort, and whatever else folks want to do.  Facebook/Website – Ashley Gates  Newsletter – Gail Covert - Next deadline March 20.  Yearbook – Tiffany Ferreira o Pictures needed from grade levels. Revenue Committee Reports  5K – Wade Smith  Box Tops – Kim Selvey o Ms. Marino class is the current leader. Keep sending them in with students name and class labeled. The next check is due to arrive in March.  Company Gifts – Melissa Crim – Target ending this year. Martin’s at Stony Point closing this summer. Need to start looking for other large corporations that give back to schools for shopping at their locations. Contact Heather with suggestions.  Original Art – Jen Swain – Art work going home February 26.  Spirit Nights - Martina Arel & Cheryl Spain o Next spirit night Friday February 19th 3-9 pm Chuck E Cheese. 15% of all sales. Free meals for teachers in attendance. o March spirit night is Joes Inn, Date TBA.  Flying Squirrels Night – Ashley Gates o Order forms going home March 4th – ticket deadline April 8th. Bookmark deadline for free ticket March 25th. Game night – Friday April 15th.  Spirit Wear – Amy Johnson o No Updates.  Village Fair – Leslie Slone-Friedrichs o Look into PTA purchasing a sno-cone machine to use at Village Fair or other events (about $350). o Still looking for people to run sub-committees.  Other

Program Committee Reports  After School Enrichment – Erin Jacoby & Kim Selvey o Going well. Sufficient volunteers. No problems to report.  Dance o March 22. Still need a chair. Please contact Heather for more information.  Eaglet Book Club - Joan Nelson o Date change needed due to 5th Grade Field Trip. Tentatively April 22, but still need to confirm.  Hospitality – Kathie Falls & Leslie Slone-Friedrichs o Sweet treats for teachers planned.  Moms & Muffins/Dads & Donuts – Kelly McCall o Huge attendance. Need to remember to bring lost and found items down to this event.  Library – Karen Austin o 37 students participating in Battle of the Books. o Book Fair April 5-12, coming on the 4th. Leslie will send out a sign up genius to help open the books. April 12 is our Minds in Motion/Book Fair evening. o Squirrel bookmarks are coming home soon.  SKIP – Jessica Forsythe o No updates.  Spring Dinner – Kim Selvey o Date set for April 12.  Talent Show – Amy McMahons o Tuesday, February 9.
