 To persuade the audience that the American Automotive industry is facing serious problems and that it is causing a negative impact on the economy.  United States is concerned on how American Automotive industry lack of innovation is costing an economic downturn on millions of Americans.

American Motors

I. Red, yellow, Green these are the color lights that signal cars in traffic all across

America.

A. However some of these cars may come to a halt. With the economic

downturn the automobile industry in America is no stranger to its effect. In the article

“Detroit’s New Crisis Could be its worst” crisis has hit the industry.

B. It has been getting worse in the more recent years. As General motors,

Ford and Chrysler seek to find answers that will make profits. (Pause)

1. They are faced with enemies such as increasing competition and

unpredictable gas prices.

2. United States is concerned on how American Automotive industry lack

of innovation is costing an economic downturn for millions of Americans.

II. In 1980 Chrysler came out with the minivan later in the 1990s different kinds

of sport utility vehicles were seen all across America.

A. Domestic manufactures were at the top and in Michigan the

Automobile Industry was producing and was benefiting financially around 2 million

Americans families. (Pause) B. Competition arises when International automakers are also manufacturing in the

United States and making employers comfortable, by giving them healthcare and pension plans.

C. The graph in the Article shows the international manufacture’s and there rebate for customers in 2005.

1. The European Market shows around eight percent and the Asian market shows around 37 percent of cash rebates when their cars are bought.

2. This has American automakers shaking and their “silver bullets have run out”.

D. The Japanese have captured the importance of SUV’s and pick up trucks in the U.S.

1. Their particularly cheap vehicles are making people buy them especially with the high prices of gas. (Pause)

2. Most of these Asian companies such as Honda and Toyota are making gains realizing the needs of the people.

3. American companies have lost touch of the needs of the middle and poor class they have steered in the way of making luxury vehicles.

III. So considering all this I’d like to say that the U.S. has opened its doors to the international automobile companies, and it’s great that we can share profits.

A. However it is important that American companies see competition not as a threat but as a way to grow and expand. (Raise tone of voice)

B. In the past American automobile companies have proved to be ground-breaking with their vehicles. 1. In these times we must should show the same characteristics, and escape from the dependence on gas and their competitors to see profits. (Pause)

2. Opportunity, control and enthusiasm are some of the few things Ford

Chrysler and G.M. need to stay afloat. (Raise tone of voice)
