Jacob Navarro Memorial Scholarship

In memory of Jacob Navarro, family and friends have established a scholarship fund through the Marshfield Area Community Foundation Inc. The scholarship offers financial assistance to a full-time student pursuing a degree in an art related field at an accredited school, technical college or university.

Two $500 Scholarships will be awarded to a student at Marshfield High School and a student at a high school in the Marshfield Area Community Foundation service area. The official geographic service area of the Marshfield Area Community Foundation includes the following communities and the towns and rural areas between these communities: Columbus Catholic School, Chili, Granton, Neillsville, Loyal, Greenwood, Withee, Owen, Spencer, Unity, Colby, Curtiss, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Stetsonville, Medford, Stratford, Rozellville, Hewitt, Auburndale, Blenker, Milladore, Sherry, Arpin, and home schooled students from this area.

Scholarship Rules

1. Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible, an applicant must meet the following criteria: a. One applicant must be a graduating student at Marshfield High School and the other a graduating student at a high school in the Marshfield Area Community Foundation service area. b. The applicant must express the intention of pursuing a degree in an art related field. c. The applicant must be scheduled to be enrolled as an undergraduate on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university during the next succeeding term. [Except as established by the college or university, there are no limitations as to the applicant’s intended field or courses of study.] An accredited university or college is one which has been accredited by one of the following: Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, or the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. d. Financial need will be considered in awarding the scholarship. e. Submit two letters of recommendations. Submit the application with two letters of reference from 2 persons who know you academically. Preferably one person is teaching in an art related field.

At Marshfield High School the deadline is March 28 2017. Students at other high schools should send their application and 2 letters of reference to MACF PO Box 456 Marshfield, WI 54449 on or before March 28, 2017.
