Selinsgrove Projects Inc. Minutes of the Board of Director’s Meeting December 16, 2014

Meeting was called to order at 6:02 pm Those present were: Joyce Hendricks (left 7:02 pm), Helen Walter, Sean Christine, Elaine Herrold, Bruce Johnson, Carol Handlan, Bobbi Steininger, Richard Mease, Dick Hess, Mike Coyne, Those absent were: Judy Spiegel and Karl Conrad Others present were: Paul Williams, Mary Bannon, and Paul Donecker, Marvin Rudnitsky Review and Approval of Minutes: Joyce Hendricks made a motion to approve the minutes from November and June and Bruce Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried. Treasure’s Report: Judy Spiegel was unable to be present but financials were submitted for approval. Joyce Hendricks made a motion to approve and Mike Coyne seconded the motion. Motion carried. Comments from Public: Marvin Rudnitsky was present to provide further detail and answer questions that some board members had regarding the trust that was setup for the perpetual maintenance of the Commons. He went on to explain what exactly we are looking at by establishing a trust for the commons. He clarified that the SPI board will have control over expenses incurred and how payment is made. Old Business: None. Reports: Main Street Manager - $60,000 exit grant was approved on December 5th, we should have funds by years end. Santa Fest was another successful event, all venues were very happy with the turn out. White Christmas decorating went great, had a wonderful turn out of volunteers. Promotions Committee: Karl Conrad submitted his letter of resignation to President Handlan, which she read to the board. Karl made it clear that he wanted to stay involved and has offered to stay on the promotions committee. Mary shared that billboards will be running out the end of December. The committee is recommending that we keep the billboards going forward. Mary will be contacting Lamar to check on other locations with lighting available. Events: Piano Palooza: - No report Hops Vines and Wines Festival: - Carol Handlan stated that she will co-chair the event with our Mayor, Jeff Reed for 2015 and then Jeff will be taking over as chair in 2016. Jeff is the co-founder of the festival with Carol. Market Street Festival: - Joyce Hendricks has agreed to continue on as co- chairperson, Elaine said she will let the board know by January meeting. White Christmas: - Selinsgrove never looked more beautiful and everyone shared comments that they heard from those visiting. The White Christmas committee was acknowledged for their outstanding contributions this year. Santa Fest: - Another successful year in spite of the weather! Economic Revitalization: - Mike Coyne reported committee met on Dec 10th. There has been interest from a business in Lewisburg to possibly move down town. Dynamic Wings is under way, should be opening soon, same as Wicked Dogs, and OIP. Michaels Family Restaurant is open and seems to be doing well. The Committee discussed possibly having an event in February, Mary will be looking into possibilities. Design Committee: - No report Discovery Trails: - No report Selinsgrove Chamber: Tree Lighting – This was the first year that the Chamber assumed full responsibility for the ceremony. It was a very beautiful celebration and very successful with hundreds of people attending. Late Shoppers’ Night – Due to the weather, outside activities were cancelled but the businesses were open but some did not stay open as late as anticipated. Santa Pet Fest – Due to the weather, this was rained out. Selinsgrove Saturdays – Looking for another event during the winter. There will be a Murder Mystery performance where clues can be found in downtown Selinsgrove on January 30th and January 31st. New Business: None Next Meeting Date – January 20, 2015
