2015-2016 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM PURPOSE

The DVASBO Membership offers an annual scholarship program. Its purpose is to financially assist high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in business.

ELIGIBILITY Any high school senior who attends and is scheduled to graduate from a participating DVASBO school entity or who is a dependent of a DVASBO member, and who attends at least a two (2) year post high school academic or vocational program is eligible. In addition, an applicant must:  Have an interest in the field of business  Complete the attached application

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING

SELECTION CRITERIA

A scholarship committee, appointed by the DVASBO President, will review candidate applications and make recommendations to the DVASBO membership for approval. Interest in business and general character qualities will be considerations in the final selection.

DURATION AND SCOPE

DVASBO scholarships consist of a one-time payment up to $2,500 to be awarded at the end of the 2015-16 school year. The scholarship committee reserves the right to distribute scholarship funds in variable amounts not to exceed $2,500 to a single applicant. Deadline for Applications March 31, 2016. 2015-16 Scholarship Application Form

The applicant must be a High School senior with the intent to be enrolled in at least a two- (2) year post high school educational or vocational program. The scholarship will be up to $2,500 and will be awarded in a one-time payment at the end of the 2015-16 school year.

Decisions will be awarded on a basis of interest in a future in business, and on character and leadership qualities as shown by responses supplied by the applicant.

4. The Selection Committee wants to get to know you on a personal level and gain insight into your character. In an essay of approximately 300 words, typed or hand written identify and describe what you feel are your most positive personal qualities. Where possible, refer to personal experiences in which you have demonstrated these qualities.

5. The Selection Committee is interested in learning about your leadership qualities. On a separate page, list co-curricular activities (sports, educational, social, civic, and other), job experiences, or family responsibilities in which you have undertaken positions of leadership. Please include a brief paragraph describing how these experiences will provide a basis for future leadership roles.

6. On a separate page, in approximately 100-150 words, explain why a business background will assist you in achieving your future goals.
