Tentative Weekly Outline

TENTATIVE WEEKLY OUTLINE MGT 170 INT BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS

Required: Please visit the WTC lab (check their hours) during their open lab hours and watch the “Ms. Interview” DVD (75 minutes) (retrieve from the lab assistant, bring your own headphones) which will prepare you for your mock interview by no later than January 27th. Additionally, please view the “Killer Presentations” DVD (90 minutes) (retrieve from the lab assistant) which will prepare you for your verbal presentation by no later than February 17th. These DVD’s are available in the lab to save you the expense of having to purchase over two hundred dollars in additional course materials.

Note: Your course requires a webcam to complete the Mock Interview assignment and the Verbal Presentation assignment. You will need to establish a free Gmail Account to be able to login to YouTube to record and upload your video. For assistance with establishing a YouTube account, visit http://www.youtube.com/yt/about/getting-started.html

This DVD is in the lab to help you save the expense of having to purchase course materials. This video will help prepare you for your upcoming mock interview. View the video by no later than January 27th

Feb 1 Topic: Verbal Presentation Skills

 Required: Review Lecture Notes Set G slides #1-48

 Required: Retrieve the DVD entitled “Killer Presentations” from the lab assistant in the WTC (bring your headphones) to learn how to develop and deliver an effective presentation. This DVD is in the lab to help you save the expense of having to purchase course materials. This video will help prepare you for your upcoming presentation. Please review by no later than February 17th

 Required: Complete the “Presentations Quiz” in EAGLE over the video “Killer Presentations” by no later than 8:00 a.m. February 20th

 Required: Review Supplemental Activity #1G “Presentation Requirements” and submit the YouTube URL (website) location to the Verbal Presentation Dropbox in EAGLE and the Research Summary as a Microsoft Word file to the Research Summary Dropbox in EAGLE and your PowerPoint slides to the PowerPoint Slides Dropbox by 8:00 a.m. February 20th

Feb 28 Topic: Peer Review Day March 1 Topic: Finalize Letters  You will be instructed to share 3 letters with the instructor for grading—one good news letter, one bad news letter, and one persuasive letter. Once you know which letters I’ve randomly selected, you will share those documents with the instructor by 8:00 a.m. March 2 nd . Instructions for sharing with the instructor will be provided. Submissions after this deadline will not be accepted for credit.
