BOOKKEEPER JOB DESCRIPTION Location: London or Cambridge, UK. Duration: Permanent part-time (0.4) appointment, subject to a three-month probationary period. However, Concordis would be willing to consider applications from qualified individuals wishing to combine the Bookkeeper and the Finance Manager roles (see our parallel advertisement) on a full-time basis. Reporting to: Finance Manager. Working Hours: The official working hours are 15 hours, Monday to Friday, and flexible working is permitted. However, this is a professional role that requires flexibility, commitment and willingness and ability to work longer hours when necessary. Overview: Concordis International operates in several countries, including the UK, and has offices in London, Cambridge, Juba and potentially Khartoum. The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining Concordis’ books and records (using Concordis’ accounting software), carrying out payroll functions (including in relation to pension contributions) and effecting (jointly with another authorised member of staff) payments from Concordis’ UK bank accounts. This includes economically executing transfers in a variety of currencies. Key Bookkeeping Tasks  Create and maintain records of all financial transactions entered into by Concordis using Concordis’ accounting software  Manage payroll (including pension contributions)  Pay life assurance premiums  Effect (jointly with another authorised member of staff) payments from Concordis’ UK bank accounts  Receive payments and deposit them into Concordis’ UK bank accounts  Reconcile UK bank accounts with credits and debits  Receive, review, obtain authority to pay and subsequently pay (jointly with another authorised member of staff) invoices from suppliers  Liaise with accounting staff in overseas offices (currently Juba, South Sudan) and ensure that financial records are maintained and information is reported and accounted for properly  Receive cash sheets, journals and reconciliations created and maintained by accounting staff in overseas offices and enter all transactions on Concordis’ accounting software.  Check that vouchers justifying expenditure have been provided for all expenditure through the UK and overseas offices and liaise with staff in the UK and overseas offices to ensure that all vouchers are available prior to audit/expenditure verification by the auditors.  Review and amend (as appropriate) the financial coding structure.  Ensure that all income and expenditure is accounted for by reference to project, item and location codes and, in particular, that restricted funds are applied only against expenditure eligible to be charged to the appropriate fund.
